Course Strategy

Interactive lectures
The lectures held will be more in the nature of interactive sessions with a strong focus on the practical industrial aspect of the topic under consideration. Faculty from top MBA colleges of the city will conduct the lectures. The faculty will blend theory with knowledge of management, business and other practices. There would also be guest lectures from corporate executives and entrepreneurs . The lectures will be aimed towards making the participant conversant with the various business concepts & practices.

Regular case studies at the end of lectures
Case studies will involve in-depth analysis and will be designed to result in a thorough and well-organized snapshot of the subject being examined. They will offer students the opportunity to evaluate the information provided for importance and relevance, identify the problem situation, formulate possible solutions for the problem, evaluate the possible solutions, select one solution, create a plan of action for implementing the chosen solution, and anticipate obstacles to the successful implementation of the solution.

Business Simulations
Simulation is a method of experiential learning . Business simulations, used by companies in training their managers, will be integrated into the program. These simulations would ensure that the participants not only learn the concepts but also apply the concepts learnt during the course , and also encourage him/her to discover issues beyond the comprehension of books. The simulations would induce competition among the participants by making them form teams of 4 and run their simulated company in a market environment common to all teams.

On-Field role-play based project and analysis
The course will be culminating with a two days role-play based project where the participants will have to assume a particular role in a team and formulate a business model . This will be a real -life project to ensure that participants get exposure to various market scenarios and learn to work in a team. A detailed analysis of this project would be conducted to ensure that all participants gain the maximum benefits out of it.

Prof. Patrick Turner - INSEAD School of Management, Singapore

Professor Turner's career includes seven years with the UK chemical company, ICI and ten years with Levi Strauss Europe where his various postings included two years as Director of Strategic Planning, and three as Marketing Director for Spain.

Since 1999 he has been Adjunct Professor at INSEAD in the area of entrepreneurship, specifically teaching MBA courses on acquisitions and new business creation on both the Fontainebleau and Singapore campuses.

In January 2003 he relocated to the Singapore campus to launch the new International Centre for Entrepreneurship, whose ambition is to create unique intellectual assets that help INSEAD achieve pre-eminence in transforming the study and teaching of entrepreneurship beyond borders.


Prof. Anil Gupta - Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad


Prof. Anil Gupta has received the Padma Shri National Award from the Hon'ble President of India for distinguished achievements in the field of management education. He is also the joint recipient of Science-in-Society Award instituted by The Indian Science Congress Association given by the Hon'ble Minister of HRD at the 91st Session of the Indian Science Congress.

He earned his Ph.D. degree in management from Kurukshetra University ( India ) in 1986 after his masters in Biochemical Genetics in 1974 from Haryana Agricultural University , Haryana. He helped establish NIF (National Innovation Foundation, India ) (March 2000) with an initial corpus of Rs.20 crores (USD five million) with a view to help India become an inventive and creative society and a global leader in sustainable technologies by scouting and sustaining grassroots innovations.

Prof. Gupta has received Fellowship from The World Academy of Art and Science, California , 2001. He has been adjudged as one of the fifty most influential people in the field of intellectual property rights around the world in 2003, Managing Intellectual Property.

Prof. Matthew Manimala - Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore


Prof. Mathew J Manimala is Professor of Organization Behaviour and Jamuna Raghavan Chair Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore . Prior to joining IIMB he has served as Senior Member of Faculty and Chairman, Human Resources Area at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and as lecturer at the University of Cochin and the University of Bhopal .

His doctoral thesis on the “Managerial Heuristics of Pioneering-Innovative Entrepreneurs” has been widely acclaimed by the community of researchers both within and outside the country. He has been awarded research fellowships by prestigious international agencies such as the European Foundation for Management Development (at Manchester Business School , Manchester , UK : 1990-91) and the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (at U niversity of Calgary , Canada : 1998-99).

Prof. Manimala obtained an MBA degree from the University of Cochin , an MBSc degree from the University of Manchester and a Doctoral degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has received several academic honors including a Certificate of Distinction for Outstanding Research in the Field of New Enterprise Development from the Academy of Management (USA).

Dr. Vinod Dumblekar - CEO, Mantis Simulations

Dr. Vinod Dumblekar is a management teacher, trainer, consultant and researcher. He has a post-graduate degree in business administration (MBA) and a doctorate (Ph D) in management psychology. He has an extensive managerial and entrepreneurial experience of three decades in commercial and merchant banking, finance and financial services, information technology and management education. He has held a variety of senior positions as the manager of a commercial bank, professor, president and director in different organizations. He has consulted for business schools and organizations, and teaches, conducts seminars and workshops.

Dr. Vinod Dumblekar has trained over 13,000 professional managers and B-School students through the medium of simulation games. He is India's most experienced authority in software-based simulations. He is the only Indian member of the Steering Committee of the International Simulation and Gaming Association.


Prof. R.K. Lagu - SJMSOM, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

Prof. Lagu is an adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance in Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. His interests are in Quantitative Finance, Monte Carlo methods, Fixed income analytics, Risk management, Business incubation and Entrepreneurship.

He is a member of the Governing Board of Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SINE) which is one of the major technology business incubators in India . He is also the Faculty Advisor of The Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Bombay.

Prof. Lagu did his B.Tech and Mtech from IIT Bombay in Electrical Engineering. He did his PhD from University of Florida , Gainesville , USA , 1985.
