 Somaiya Vidyavihar recognizes that education is attained, in part, through the activities of the students themselves. It strives to provide and maintain a corps of scholars, lecturers, and educators dedicated to:

focused teaching and learning activities and by cultivating collaborative relationships with international programs, higher education institutions and global communities and yet remain deeply entrenched in Indian cultural values and universal religious and spiritual philosophies.

All the functionalities in the institute are divided into different committees which are managed by the students only. Every year new first year managers are selected for working in different committees based on their skill-compatibilities, and are handed over the work by the second year managers. There is a professor associated with each committee to guide student managers and help them to expand.

i)                   Placement Committee (PCOM): All the placement activities within the campus carried out by the committee, since the start of calling up companies to the end results of the selection process. This has been treated as the most skillful committee of SIMSR and has a very high ranking.

ii)                 Alumni Committee (ALCOM): All the work related to the maintenance of the alumni records are done by the student managers of this committee, they keep track of the alumni, organize different interaction events so that an interaction is possible with them for future guidance, such as Anveshan, Nostalgia etc.

iii)              Public Relations Committee (PR): Coordinates all the committees to convey their information internally and externally. All the intra and inter-college communications are handled by the student managers of this committee. Media connections are maintained and captures all the incidents of SIMSR in the words’ form.

iv)                Consultancy cell: this committee make tremendous efforts to make SIMSR feel proud. They call up industries for different projects, and once they receive it they do a justice to the job. they provide high quality, end to end consulting services and solutions in a wide range of areas for small and medium enterprises. they have successfully served many industries like Amul, Reliance, Tata Chemicals, Dr. Reddy’s and Maxwell Industries, 

v)                  Somaiya Social Cell: This is a committee of its honor. A student volunteer committee which targets to make us realize our socialresponsibilitie
s.
This is not about collecting donations and giving them to the poorer people. It is more than any of such kind of activities. They help people to grow, they help people to learn, they help people in teaching, and they help people to earn. The ethicalentrepreneurial
practices by the cell have brought them to a level that they have won the SIFE (students in free entrepreneurship) regional competition and have become SIFE affiliated. They have made it to receive the KPMG and HSBC grand regularly for last 4 years. Under different projects name the cell has been doing good things to the society while bringing learning to the students. Such projects are: Sankalp, Sameerwadi, Warli, Nareshwadi Learning Center (NLC), Financial Literacy etc. Under each project head they are doing anentrepreneurial
job for theunderprivileged
to make their life better and provide a permanent solution for their unemployment issue. This gives a true sense of Social Innovation.

vi)                Student Activity Forum (SAF): an activity forum which is different from all of the above committees and cells, it assures the Energy flow of the students in SIMSR, they assure that your interest in the studies should remain same for the rest of the time. They organize different cultural and fun festivals in SIMSR to make people enjoy the work they do. There management strategies are a little bit different. They need to be creative planner and a economic manager at the same time. They organize fests such as Rangotsav, AD-MAD, Melanj, All-is-Well and Bollywood Quiz etc.

vii)             Interface: It is a marketing forum of SIMSR which takes care of the guest lectures in SIMSR plus the marketingextracurricular
activities of SIMSR, such as Mindshare sessions which have a very deep knowledge of the field, only students take part in this and share their thoughts and knowledge about certain issues. It is also responsible to conduct the SIMSR-ASIA Marketing Conference, where global entrepreneurs and marketing intelligent of the world come and have a panel discussions and presentations at one platform.

viii)           Entrepreneurship cell (E-Cell): this cell is responsible to maintain theentrepreneurial
environment of SIMSR by its activities. It keeps on organizing different sessions to share knowledge about theentrepreneurshi
p
such as E-Novate etc. It helps students in creating Business Plan, giving them an appropriate shape and size, and help them go further to start their own new idea as a business. E-cell has a festival of its own: “Samavesh” which includes a story telling session, and a panel discussion with world’s leading or well established entrepreneurs.

 Faculty:

 The Institute has following faculty strength. It complies with the faculty: student ratio of 1:15 and the cadre ratio as required by AICTE.

        30 % of Core faculty are Ph.D degree holders, another 30 are registered for Ph.D. and at various stages of completing the same.

 More than 50 % faculty have industry experience

 Faculty has published 6 books during 2009-10

 Faculty has published / presented 53 research papers in reputed refereed journals / conferences during 2008-09

 Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Ghai, Director is President of Bombay Management Association during 2009-10

 4 case studies written by faculty have been accepted for inclusion in the international database of case studies of European Case Clearing House (ECCH)
