Manage day-to-day operational requirements of the department by scheduling / assigning work to employees and ensuring all KPIs are met or exceeded.
Lead all HR aspects for up to 20 departmental staff, including recruitment, orientation, training, Health and Safety, mentoring and performance management.
Ensure financial objectives are achieved by forecasting, preparing and working to an annual budget; managing expenditure; analysing variances; and initiating corrective action.
Interact with and provide a high standard of service to customers on a daily basis.
Establish rapport with existing and potential customers, as well as with third parties when appropriate, to identify their current and future requirements.
Ensure availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts and maintaining inventories.
Formulate pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities and studying trends to determine the need for additional sales promotions or authorisation of stock clearance sales.
Effectively market merchandise by researching and implementing strategic advertising, sales promotions, and display plans.
Secure merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
Maintain the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
Determine profitability ratios and marketing strategy changes by analysing and reviewing operating / financial statements and departmental sales records.
Ensure the efficiency of the department by initiating, coordinating and enforcing operational and personnel policies, programmes and procedures.
Provide support to the team during busy or peak periods to ensure all targets are achieved.
Successful at achieving and often exceeding weekly sales targets through utilising effective marketing strategies such as cross-merchandising and off-location display of products. This includes exceeding liquor department Christmas sales target by 24%, a significant increase in turnover when compared with 2013.
Awarded ‘Best Department’ of the Waikato region and ‘Team Member’ of the month twice.
Provided high levels of support, coaching and mentoring to individual team members.
Received numerous customer and managerial commendations for providing a consistently high standard of support and service.
