HISTORY OF COMPANY
HAVMOR ICE CREAM LTD. was founded in 1944,in Karachi (in undivided india) by Shri satish Chona and became a popular brand overthere at that time. But, in 1947, due to the partition of india, its founder had to join the exodus into india, with virtually no movable assets. His founder searching for a new turf , tried out Dehra Dun & Indore and finally settled down in Ahmedabad.
With small beginning ,Big vision and Great ambitions, Mr. Satish Chona had began the journey in Ahmedabad , with a hand-cart at the Ahmedabad Railway Station, churning out the Ice cream manually. He called this fledgling brand „HAVMOR? – a neologism for „Have More? – which meant the customer got more value for money and more taste to relish from his ice creams. With the blessings of his father( Late.Mr.Satish Chona),his son Mr. Pradeep Chona continued the journey of his father and now has changed the face of Havmor Ice cream Ltd. as one of the most favorite ice cream brand of western India and today it has been positioned among the Top Three in sales in Gujarat. Today, Havmor Ice cream is a delicious facet of western India?s daily life with market share of 35 %, having a strong dealer network of more than 5000 Dealers and around 40 Parlours, Factory with Ultra-Modern Technology and Machineries and Office with a large amount of qualified Human Capital in the company.
Today, Mr. Pradeep Chona heads the Havmor conglomerate and he has continued his father?s obsession and streak to innovation.
Favoring innovation , he added a suffix – “ Navu Su Che? ” to his father?s motto – “ Achchai,Sachchai,Safai ”. Till date, Mr. Pradeep Chona , set off a series of changes at Havmor – in technology, in quality and hygiene standards , in management , in HRD and in overall corporate environment. The marketing set up of Havmor Ice Cream Ltd. consists of three zonal offices in Gujarat at Ahmedabad, in Maharashtra at Bombay and in Rajasthan at Jaipur. In Gujarat state there is only one state marketing office at Ahmedabad. The marketing department consists of around 70 marketing people and 65 distributors and sales force is classified on the basis of area of operations.

Packaging : The packaging of Havmor ice cream is done in primary packs, secondary packs and shipping packs as per the product varieties. The packaging of various products of Havmor is quite attractive and does not contain any environmental issues.
Labeling : The labeling of Havmor Ice cream is done in the proper manner and contains all the necessary information like ingredients content, price, trade mark of company, company logo, expiry date etc. And till date no labeling issue has been faced by the company.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
The new product development in Havmor company is taken jointly by research and development department and marketing department. In the company, at every three months interval new product varieties are introduced. Recently, the company has introduced three new varieties like Pan Ice Cream, Kesar Ras Malai and Anjir walnut.

Finance is required at every stage ; to start business, to operate it and expand it ; so management of finance is required. According to Howard and Upton “ Finance is that administrative area or set of administrative function in an organization which relates with the arrangements of cash and credit so that the organization may have the means to carry out of his objective as satisfactory as possible ??. Financial management is the specialized part of general management. It is related to procurement of finance and its effective utilization to fulfill the common goals of the organization. Financial management can be defined as planning , organizing, directing and controlling of the financial activities of the utilization of funds in a proper manner. In Financial management, the most important role is played by the finance manager whose decisions matters a lot. Any single wrong decision of finance manager can bring the company into huge losses.

Production must be operated in an economic and efficient manner because cost of production is a vital factor in facing market competition and in ensuring normal profit or return on investment. The production plant of Havmor Ice Cream Private ltd. is spread over the area of around 4000 square meters at naroda.The following is the address of production plant of the company : Production Plant :Havmor Ice Cream Ltd. G/C 4, Modern Industrial Estate, B/H Naroda Fire Station, Naroda Ahmedabad – 380025 At the factory site, there are around 600 workers and around 70 office staff people are employed. There are various departments at the plant site performing different functions like production department, Maintenance department, stores departments and dispatch department.

QUALITY CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT : -
Havmor Ice Cream Ltd. is an ISO 9001: 2000 certified company for the manufacturing facilities. The company has Research and Development Department at the production plant which looks after the quality control and management function. As the company is very quality conscious, the strict follow up of the quality standards is done in the plant. Right from the starting point of inserting the raw material to the ending point of the production process, there is a strict adherence to the quality standards. There are also various tests and analysis are conducted as a part of the quality control process like Material quality analysis , Milk sampling analysis , Chemical and Micro biological analysis etc. to maintain the quality level.

As In Havmor Ice Cream ltd., no major kind of air, water or noise pollution is done or no hazardous product?s production is done; so this company can be said as the company with great environment concerns.
The company has its separate E.D.P. plant for the dispose of waste and pollution control.

The various process under gone by the dairies are as follows : -
The word “ Pasteurization” has been named of the name of the eminent French Scientist, Louis Parture, who studied that heating of liquid, to a high temperature considerably improves their keeping qualities. This process is widely employed in almost all the dairy operations, in general the word “pasteurization” can not the heating of milk & milk products to a temperature which destroys almost all the micro organization present and that too without significantly affection the properties of these products. The milk is warmed nicely and from it milk cream is produced. Because milk is refined and tested nicely from the dairy only no need to be tested it. Making cream add needed dry fruits and sugar, Stabilizers and chemicals in it. Sugar is mixed in milk while warming. Cleaning of dry fruits and cutting is done by over machine very nicely. They make different varieties by ice cream by different process. They pack than nicely and store in cold storage at – 25% Celsius to – 38 Celsius.

HAVMOR uses different kinds of packaging material for different products. It uses plastic cups for ice cream and its different products. It uses plastic covered papers for the packing of cones and chocobars. It uses thick, hard, card papers for the packing of family pack.

The payment of wages to the factory workers is done on both daily and monthly basis as per their being of contractual or permanent workers. The payment of wages is done as per the payment of wages Act and other Government rules. The payment of salary is done on monthly and annual bases as per the position in the company. In the company, Bonus is also given to the employees on festival or auspicious occasions.

The company does not use T.V. media for its advertising and promotions like other companies like Vadilal ,Amul, Quality walls etc. so it should also indulge in such activity to increase the brand awareness The company can also sponsor any parks or garden or any public place to gain the social publicity and people’s attention The company should also place hoardings at areas like hoarding near the crossroads with high traffic problem or around the public place or parks which can help the company grab the people‘s attention The company should also give frequent ads in news papers, radio and other media to maintain the customers’ interest in the company.
