Top Tech for MBA Students

Jessica Oaks | Tuesday 27 May 2014 ( 0 Comment)

Though the economy has yet to fully rebound, studies show that as hiring increases so do the enrollment statistics for MBA programs across the country. The idea is that such programs better equip students for the nature of 21st century business and better ensure employability.

According to the Graduate Management Admission Council, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, of 328 schools surveyed, application volume increased by 50 percent across the programs that responded to the survey. Last year saw 43 percent growth. Due to this increase in interest and in enrollment, business schools have to be more selective regarding graduate candidacy. For this reason, prospective students have to stand out and ensure that they are adequately equipped for the rigors of graduate study, and technology can help. Read on to discover five of the top tech gadgets on the market to aid MBA students.

Portable Projectors

A portable projector is ideal for all of those presentations MBA students will likely have to make. Make a statement by projecting your PowerPoint or Excel presentation on a large-format screen. Don’t rely on the capabilities of the school media department. Come prepared with your own state-of-the-art gadgetry and demonstrate your business preparedness.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is ideal for the business student. Use the S Pen provided with the Galaxy Note 10. 1to take notes in class. Or access your course materials or conduct research via the Web using the WiFi capability of the Galaxy Note 10.1. For T-Mobile subscribers, the Galaxy Note 10.1 comes available with access to the carrier’s 4G LTE free data network. This is perfect for those students who might be strapped for cash. Get yourself a portable keyboard and the Microsoft Office Pro package and write your papers or prepare your presentations right on your tablet. The tablet also works as a convenient e-reader for serving up those hefty textbooks and pesky PDF articles. Having such a device is perfect for the student on the go as it is extremely portable and easy to use.

Flash Drive

A USB flash drive is essential for the prospective graduate student. The device is ideal for storing all of your work or collecting electronic references your project partner located in the library. For sharing data, there is no better or convenient means for doing so.

Web Cam and Headset

Perhaps you are not taking the traditional path of attending a brick and mortar school. For online students, having a web cam and headset are essential for those instances when synchronous attendance is mandatory or recommended. Possession of these devices allows the student to actively participate in real-time classroom conversations being held via the Web. They also will provide a means for making presentations to disparately located fellow students and instructors.

Regardless if you are a traditional or online student, a printer is another essential piece of equipment to own. You might think that because you are an online student you can do everything electronically, and you might be right. But sometimes you might encounter articles you are unable to download to your e-reader and will need to print them out to read. Sometimes a printed copy is just more convenient. A traditional student might suggest that access to the library is all he or she needs to get the job done. Well, the library isn’t necessarily open 24 hours a day, and when you are up at 4 am finishing your paper, you will want to have the means to print it out and submit it that morning. That is where a printer is essential.

There are, of course, other gadgets that may be indispensable for the prospective MBA student. In the end, it comes down to what works best for your given situation. Good luck with your studies!
