Guru Nanak Khalsa College established in the year 1937, is counted to be then the first minority institution managed by SGPC in Western India. This barrage of breakthrough was then initiated by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, with his characteristic clarity of vision to impart higher education amongst the common populace. The initial impetus to finances then came from offerings at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, Punjab of the then undivided India. What emerged then is an imposing institution with a prized hybrid Gothic architecture, sprawling over 5.71 acres of land of which 102mts/144mts has been exclusively structured and maintained for sports. From then on the journey of imparting quality education continues ad infinitum.
Guru Nanak Khalsa College is now a collegiums in the truest sense of the word! Now inching towards its platinum jubilee, the institution is diversifying into various domains of contemporary learning! This Mid Mumbai educational hub has a full fledged Junior College and Degree College in the streams of Arts, Commerce and Science. It now has two more sister institutions for higher learning in her portals: Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies (GNIMS) and Guru Nanak Institute of Research and Development (GNIRD).
Keeping in sync with its dictum: Essence of Wisdom is Service to Humanity, this college has a hallowed past and a pulsating now! The College has made its presence felt in the social, economic and cultural spheres of society. Legends, Oscar awardee, world renowned Olympians are alumnus of this institution. Luminaries from the fields of education, medicine, research, films, theatre, performing arts, media and politics are spreading their fragrance to the world. They are doing so now: having imbibed the values from this Temple of Learning! The institute has been bestowed with International Dalit Movement Award for being the best college by the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Dalit Mitra Sanstha.

There is a Career Guidance and a Placement Cell which organizes Seminars and Career Fairs to inform the students about the employment avenues open to them. Various Corporate/Business Organizations visit the College for campus recruitment. The college prepares the database of the final year students and the same is provided to the employers.
The College has a good placement record. Some of the recruiters are:
IBM, Reliance Life Sciences, JP Morgan, Global Services, TCS, TATA AIG, ICICI Bank, Hexaware Technologies, TIFR, ACTREC, Patni Computers, Wipro and Dailies like Nav Shakti and Prahar.
The Career Guidance Cell is very active throughout the year and has conducted many sessions for students in varied areas like Defence, Management and Overseas Education.
Infrastructure / Teaching Facilities
A total of 40 classrooms are available for teaching (ICT enabled included). A seminar hall with latest technology is utilized by all the departments for conducting seminars, workshops, refresher courses and other programmes for the benefit of students and teachers.
The College has 11 departments with well equipped and maintained laboratories. The quadrangle is used for various activities like book exhibitions, career fair, counseling camps et al throughout the year for the benefit of students. The College auditorium, situated on the second floor of the main building, serves as a venue for most of the cocurricular activities. A plan is afoot to renovate the auditorium with state of art acoustics and allied AV facilities. The College quadrangle is the most sought after venue for the celebration of the Annual College festival Nazrana as well as other important activities. The College ground admeasuring 102 metres by 144 metres encompasses a full fledged hockey field meeting international standards. It is surrounded by a running / hurdles track. The playfield also has a volleyball court, a kabaddi ground and a handball court. A shooting range has been developed. Tournaments of hockey, cricket, football et al are hosted on the playground besides it being used for regular sports practice. Indoor games like chess, carrom, table tennis et al are conducted in the College gymkhana. A well equipped gymnasium has also been set up there.
