Epic Research Update : Asian Markets

Asian equity markets started the week mixed, with Hong Kong stocks tumbling on the back of intensifying protests, while fresh signs of slowing growth in China weighed on overall sentiment.

China's Shanghai Composite was up 0.29 percent or 6.84 points at 2,354.56. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 2.08 percent or 492.73 points at 23,185.68.

Japan's Nikkei rose 0.50 percent or 81.41 points at 16,311.27. Singapore's Straits Times shed 0.12 percent or 3.85 points at 3,288.36.

South Korea's Seoul Composite added 0.18 percent or 3.64 points at 2,035.28. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted fell 0.32 percent or 28.79 points at 8,961.03.
 
Asian markets slipped on Tuesday amid caution over developments in Hong Kong and as investors focused on data in China and Japan.

Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng plunged 1.33 percent or 309.13 points at 22,920.08. Japan%u2019s Nikkei slipped 1 percent or 163.51 points at 16,147.13.

Singapore%u2019s Straits Times shed 0.70 percent or 22.94 points at 3,266.78. South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite fell 0.36 percent or 7.32 points at 2,019.28.

Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted declined 0.59 percent or 52.54 points at 8,908.22. China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,356.04.
