Asian Markets Update by Epic Research

Asian stock markets declined on Monday following weak Chinese data but overall trading volumes were light with Japan closed for a holiday.

China’s Shanghai Composite declined 0.25 percent or 5.85 points at 2,326.10. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng plunged 1.01 percent or 248.66 points at 24,346.66.

Singapore’s Straits Times shed 0.21 percent or 7.18 points at 3,338.37. South Korea’s Seoul Composite was down 0.30 percent or 6.09 points at 2,035.77.

Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted was down 0.15 percent or 14.02 points at 9,209.16.
 
Asian equity markets were mostly lower on Tuesday with technology shares in focus following a sell-off in the sector overnight.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,337.69. Japan%u2019s Nikkei shed 0.43 percent or 68.83 points at 15,879.46.

Singapore%u2019s Straits Times declined 0.40 percent or 13.36 points at 3,299.11. South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite rose 0.32 percent or 6.58 points at 2,042.40.

Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted fell 0.31 percent or 28.84 points at 9,188.62. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shut today.
 
Asian shares crept cautiously higher on Wednesday after Wall Street rebounded on speculation the Federal Reserve would maintain a pledge on low rates when a two-day policy meeting ends later in the session.

China’s Shanghai Composite was up 3.28 points or 0.14 percent at 2,299.83 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 316.20 points or 1.31 percent to 24,452.21 at 8:00 am.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 Average climbed 22.07 points or 0.14 percent to 15,933.60 and Singapore’s Straits Times advanced 16.83 points or 0.51 percent to 3,289.45.

South Korea’s Seoul Composite rose 12.96 points or 0.63 percent to 2,055.88 and Taiwan Weighted was up 96.06 points or 1.05 percent to 9,229.46.

Asian shares were mixed on Thursday as slowing property prices in China offset relief over the US Federal Reserve%u2019s accomodative policy stance.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was down 0.10 percent or 2.36 points at 2,305.54. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng shed 0.97 percent or 236.14 points at 24,140.27.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei gained 1 percent or 158.92 points at 16,047.59. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times rose 0.19 percent or 6.41 points at 3,302.89.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite declined 0.55 percent or 11.29 points at 2,051.32. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted was up 0.19 percent or 17.60 points at 9,212.77.
 
Asian shares rose on Friday following liquidity boosting measures from China and as investors awaited the outcome of Scotland%u2019s referendum.



Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng added 0.35 percent or 84.57 points at 24,253.29.



Japan%u2019s Nikkei surged 1.54 percent or 247.84 points at 16,315.41.



Singapore%u2019s Straits Times jumped 0.27 percent or 8.82 points at 3,306.11. South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite rose 0.65 percent or 13.38 points at 2,061.12.



Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted added 0.37 percent or 34.08 points at 9,271.11.



China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2,318.10.
