Markets started the month of October on a positive note crossing
the 17000 mark on Sensex, before losing its way midways amidst
profit bookings across the sectors after a huge runoff in the past few
months, coupled with heavy selling by FIIs in the last 10 days of the
month. Sensex ended negative losing 7.18% and Nifty losing 7.31%.
Midcaps and Small caps however outperformed the benchmark
indices losing 4.9% and 7% respectively.
