main functions of management is to Plan, Organise, Staff,Controlling and Directing.
Examples of each function can be given as: 1) to define Mission and Vision of the company and budgeting, 2) creating organisational hierarchy and 3) finding suitable person to occupy those positions created by the organisational structure. Controlling and
Directing refers to managerial activities like decided what to produce & how much to produce.

Describe a major theory of leadership , and a major theory of motivation

Leadership is not just leading a group of people through a task or a project, but helping them to realize their own strengths , enlighten them to live their dreams. The impact of the leader’s behaviour creates a huge effect on the follower’s performance. Some times the act retains an indelible mark on the follower’s mind.
Leadership Theories : Trait Approach,Skills Approach, Style Approach. Situational Approach,Contingency Theory, Path-Goal Theory
Leader Member Exchange ,Transformational ,Transactional ,Team Leadership.

Contingency Theory : This is a leader match theory because it tries to match leaders to appropriate situations.A leader’s effectiveness depends on how well the leader’s style fits the context .The theory was developed by studying the styles of leaders in situations and whether they were effective (primarily in military organizations)

To create high performance level within workforce, team it has become increasingly important and to do so business leaders must be able to inspire organizational members to go beyond their task requirements. As a result, new concept of leadership has emerged - transformational leadership being one of them.
Transformational leadership may be found at all levels of the organization: teams, departments, divisions, and organization as a whole. Such leaders are visionary, inspiring, daring, risk-takers, and thoughtful thinkers. They have a charismatic appeal. But charisma alone is insufficient for changing the way an organization operates.
