Mahesh Belthur said:So here is the rough timetable for you all who start preparin from April for CAT:
1) 15th April to 14th May :
Start working on your vocabulary and for RC section now as this
cannot be done in a short time and needs a continuos efforts
over a period of time. You may devote 1 hour a day for this
section by reading newspapers and magazines. Read from
various sources on different subjects. Keep a dictionary handy
and consult it whenever required, keep a diary of new words you
come across. Start working on fundamentals for mathematics
and on topics where you consider yourself as weak.
Multiplication of numbers till 25*25 should be remembered.
Squares and cubes of numbers till 25 should be remembered.
Pythogoras triplets with any all the arms less than 200 should be
remembered. Start working on mental calculations with
percentages, fractions etc.
After 14th May continue to spend 30 minutes on reading
newspapers, magazines etc everyday till the end.
2) From 15th May to 31st May : Devote 1 hour and 30 minutes
everyday for Data Interpretation and Data sufficiency.
3) From 1st June to 15th June : Devote 1 hour and 30 minutes
everyday for Logical Reasoning and Verbal reasoning.
4) 16th June to 30th June , Take section tests on Data
Interpretation , data sufficiency etc.
4) 1st July till 12th July for Arithmetic and Algebra.
5) 13th July till 30th July for Geometry, Set theory, Probability and
remaining part of QA.
6) 31st July to 15th Aug for Section tests on QA.
7) 11th Aug to 24th Aug for section tests on English. By now you
should score well as you have devoted 1 hour a day on reading
newspaper and on improving your vocabulary.
8) 25th Aug to 10th Sept for the section you think you did not
perform well in your section test.
9 ) From 11th Sept to Oct end : Take Full time Mock test twice a
week.
10) In Nov till CAT is held take 3 test a week.
You should be comfortably able to take 25 full time test.
Note : After each section test and Full time test you must go back
and solve the questions which you could not solve during the
given time and the ones that you did not solve correctly. Spend 2
hours on analysis after each mock.
First of ALL ... you are never too late for CAT..Its a pretty good schedule for april starters.. The thing i have heard abt lately being ppl in they last year and are afraid tht april is to late to be able to attempt CAT '06.. But the keyword ova here is you are never late for CAT. Coz i have seen ppl with jst lst 3 months of prep gettin brilliant scores and those who have done classes and are taught conventinally that december or jan is the right to opt for nov cat havnt brought much bright marks... Its always the perception of how u see towards CAT. i believe this schedule is what an average grade boy can adhere to and surely have a chance to crack CAT. Hv been through many expert talk magz of IIM alumni, and convo's with present IIM grades the thing they believe in is 6 months is more than enough to crack CAT but that is when u tend to respect ur timetable and hv discipline towards your goal...!!
So guyz who are startin for cat as of nw don't worry if your friend says you too late for CAT'06, coz at the end of the day its how you use this 6 months which counts..!!

It all depends on how comfortable you are with what subject.
Get your base straight for Math n Di, practice to get a good accuracy and speed.
And read all you can for a strong vocab. And keep track of all current affairs so that you can score in GD, PI
That is 2 cents of advice frm my side on Belling the CAT .
