Government and industry sources

The other sources of data collection include, the annuals reports of the companies, to gauge how they are doing and their budget allocation on various categories. The administrative ministries also publish annual reports for presentation to the Parliament. The data undoubtedly are authentic.

Such documents also provide the line of thinking of the Government on various issues, which may have an impact on the market situation.

Similarly, a number of industry associations, like the FICCI, CII, ASCHOM and SCOPE publish not only their annual reports but also their activities and plans of action.

The enormity of data in various source books surely leaves a novice gasping for his breath. The other area of concern is how to make sense of the statistical data and make them fruitful from the client’s perspective.
