Marketing has it's origin in the fact that humans are creatures of needs and wants. People need food, air, water, clothing, and a strong desire for recreation, education and other services. They have strong preferences for particular versions and brands of basic good and services.

The concept of marking brings us full circle to the concept of marketing.

Marketing means human activity-taking place in relation to market.

Marketing means working with market to actualize potential exchanges for the purpose of satisfying human needs and wants.

American marketing association approved a definition for marketing management in the year 1985, "marketing management is. the process of planning and executing the conception, prizing, promotion and distribution of goods, services and ideas to create an exchange with target groups that satisfy the customers and organizational objectives".

This definition recognizes that marketing management is a process involving analysis planning, implementation and control that covers goods services and ideas, that it rests on the notion of exchange, and that the goal is to produce satisfaction for the parties involved.
