Warrington College of Business Administration

UF is a major, public, comprehensive, land-grant, research university. The state's oldest, largest and most comprehensive university, Florida is among the nation's most academically diverse public universities. Florida has a long history of established programs in international education, research and service. It is one of only 17 public, land-grant universities that belongs to the Association of American Universities.
History

In 1853, the state-funded East Florida Seminary took over the Kingsbury Academy in Ocala. The seminary moved to Gainesville in the 1860s and later was consolidated with the state's land-grant Florida Agricultural College, then in Lake City. In 1905, by legislative action, the college became a university and was moved to Gainesville. Classes first met with 102 students on the present site on Sept. 26, 1906. UF officially opened its doors to women in 1947. With more than 46,000 students, Florida is now one of the five largest universities in the nation.
Facilities

Florida has a 2,000-acre campus and more than 900 buildings (including 170 with classrooms and laboratories). The northeast corner of campus is listed as a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The UF residence halls have a total capacity of some 7,000 students and the five family housing villages house more than 2,200 married and graduate students.

UF's extensive capital improvement program has resulted in facilities ideal for 21st century research including the McKnight Brain Institute, the new Health Professions, Nursing and Pharmacy Building, the Genetics and Cancer Research Center now being built, and the Proton-beam Therapy Center that will be located in Jacksonville. Overall, the university's current facilities have a book value of more than $1 billion and a replacement value of $2 billion.

Professional MBA Two-Year

Two Year
The MBA for Professionals 2-Year (Weekend) Program is designed for busy professionals who wish to continue working full time while pursuing their MBA. This program starts in both the spring and fall semesters.
While the structure is similar to that of the Executive MBA Program, the Professionals 2-Year Program is better suited to individuals at earlier stages of their careers, who may find it difficult to be absent from work one Friday per month. With only two courses per term, students have more time to absorb the material and to apply it in their current positions at work. One week-long elective is also required.
Class Profile
Average Age: 29
Average Experience: 6 years
Average GMAT: 610
Average GPA: 3.2

Learning Environment
The MBA for Professionals 2-Year Program students meet on the University of Florida campus one Saturday and Sunday per month for 27 months (48 credit hours).
The program is divided into seven 16-week terms, with students completing two three-credit courses per term. The curriculum has been carefully designed to maximize the MBA educational experience while minimizing the amount of time the working professional must be away from the job. Students take courses that expose them to the primary functional areas in business as well as advanced-level courses that provide both breadth and depth of knowledge appropriate for general management.

Computer Requirements
All Florida MBA Programs require that you have a notebook computer. In today's business environment computing is an integral component, with the computer being the standard tool. A notebook computer ensures that computing capability is available to you at all times and all locations.

Costs
Fall 2008: $36,000
Spring 2009: $36,000

+ Program estimates do not include the cost of required computer hardware and software. All amounts are based upon current estimates of fees, tuition, and expenses. These amounts are expected to increase each year.

Note: Due to the required group work and high level of concentration and study time that is involved in these programs, students are strongly encouraged to stay at a nearby hotel. The Florida MBA Programs will coordinate hotel reservations on behalf of students, however, students must pay the hotel directly. Special rates have been negotiated with area hotels. You will receive more information on the hotels after being admitted.

Professional MBA One Year

The University of Florida MBA for Professionals 1-Year Program is designed for working professionals who have an undergraduate degree in business and two to seven years of significant post-baccalaureate work experience. The MBA for Professionals 1-Year Program requires only 16 months of study (32 credit hours). One week-long elective is also required.

Class Profile
Average Age: 27
Average Experience: 5 years
Average GMAT: 600
Average GPA: 3.4

Learning Environment
Students attend a weekend of classes (Saturday-Sunday) once a month on the University of Florida campus.
Because all students in the MBA for Professionals 1-Year Program have already been exposed to the main functional areas of business as part of their undergraduate degree, they are "waived" from retaking courses in these functional areas (equivalent to the first year of a two-year program). However, to prepare themselves for what are essentially second-year MBA classes, all students are required to attend a one-week Foundations Review course at the start of the program in August. This course covers basic material in Accounting, Finance, Economics, and Statistics. Students will receive two credits for the Foundations Review course.
The rest of the program is divided into four four-month terms. The program includes Professional Development courses designed to focus on skills needed for managerial success that are not normally covered in the classroom such as effective written and oral presentation skills. The curriculum allows students to gain breadth of knowledge through required and specific advanced-level courses. The curriculum takes into consideration that all participants have an undergraduate degree in business and, based on this, the program has been carefully designed to maximize the MBA educational experience while minimizing the amount of time the student must be away from work.

Computer Requirements
All Florida MBA Programs require that you have a notebook computer. In today's business environment computing is an integral component, with the computer being the standard tool. A notebook computer ensures that computing capability is available to you at all times and all locations.

Costs
All amounts are based on current estimates of fees, tuition, and expenses. These amounts are expected to increase each year. A non-refundable deposit is required upon admission.

Fall 2008: $28,000
Spring 2009: $28,000

Program estimates do not include the cost of required computer hardware and software.

Class Profile
Average Age: 30
Average Experience: 7 years
Average GMAT: 600
Average GPA: 3.2

Learning Environment
We have chosen The Weston Center (a BCC Satellite Campus), due to its location in the Fort Lauderdale/Weston area, as the site for the University of Florida Professional MBA in South Florida. This recently built facility offers a combination of excellent classroom technology in a quiet learning environment.

Computer Requirements
All Florida MBA Programs require that you have a notebook computer. In today's business environment computing is an integral component, with the computer being the standard tool. A notebook computer ensures that computing capability is available to you at all times and all locations.

Executive MBA

Executive MBA
The University of Florida Executive Program is designed for seasoned business executives who wish to continue working full time while pursuing their MBA.
Students in the Executive Program should have at least eight years of professional work experience and significant people or project management responsibilities in their current positions. Because students are relatively advanced in their careers, topics for classroom discussion tend to be approached from a more strategic viewpoint

Class Profile
Average Age: 37
Average Experience: 13 years
Average GMAT: 600
Average GPA: 3.1

Learning Environment

Students in the Executive Program meet for an extended weekend (Friday-Sunday) once a month on the University of Florida campus. The 20-month program is divided into five four-month terms and has a one week international trip.

Most terms consist of three business courses plus one Professional Development course. The Professional Development courses are designed to focus on skills needed for managerial success that are not normally covered in the classroom, such as effective written and oral presentation skills.

The curriculum exposes students to the primary functional areas in business and allows for further breadth through specified advanced-level courses. The curriculum has been carefully designed to maximize the MBA educational experience while minimizing the amount of time executives must be away from work.

International Study Tour

The International study tour is a program requirement; students travel abroad in May for a week of experiential learning through lectures or discussions with local business and government leaders. The tour will include stops in the capitals of France and Belgium, as well as other sites in these countries, and feature a combination of lectures, group projects and/or site visits. Typical site visits for students in the recent graduate study tours include visits to the European Economic Union, Procter and Gamble, and UNESCO.

Computer Requirements
All Florida MBA Programs require that you have a notebook computer. In today's business environment computing is an integral component, with the computer being the standard tool. A notebook computer ensures that computing capability is available to you at all times and all locations.

Costs
Total Program Fees: $40,000

Program estimates do not include the cost of required computer hardware and software.

All amounts are based upon current estimates of fees, tuition, and expenses. These amounts are expected to increase each year.

Note: Due to the required group work and high level of concentration and study time thatis involved in these programs, students are strongly encouraged to stay at a nearby hotel. This Program starts in February, offers a 27-month curriculum and requires 8 weekend campus visits at the end of each term.

One-Year
The Internet MBA 1-Year Program is designed for students with a business degree and two to seven years of work experience. The Internet 1-Year Program starts in January, offers a 16-month curriculum and requires 5 weekend campus visits at the end of each term.
