Executive MBA
A Program for executives and working professionals who wish to lead organizations effectively in a rapidly changing business environment.
Program Identity and Scope
The ALBA ACT Executive MBA Program is an intensive weekend Program specifically tailored to the needs of executives and working professionals. It is designed to develop the reflective managers of tomorrow, by helping them acquire critical reasoning skills and develop strategic thinking. A major advantage is that the management skills acquired during the Program can immediately be applied in the workplace. To ensure that participants from different academic and professional backgrounds are at a common level of preparation, there is a series of preparatory courses offered in the two month period preceding the commencement of the Program. The ALBA ACT Executive MBA Program starts in late September - early October every year and is normally completed within two years. Students may extend the Program to a maximum of 48 months. For the EMBA Academic Calendar 2008-2009 please click here.
“Both ACT and ALBA are committed to providing top quality business education to our Program participants. The Executive MBA Program combines academic rigor with professionally relevant knowledge offering a holistic and integrated approach to business issues that help participants to think and act strategically in their management practice.”
Designed for Executives and Working Professionals
The Executive MBA Program acquaints participants with the latest trends and the most current knowledge in management. Participants in the program have the unique opportunity to broaden their horizons through the interaction with other managers and leaders across a wide range of industries. Working closely together in a challenging educational environment, participants will build a network of relationships with other outstanding professionals and sharpen their analytical and problem-solving skills.
The Program is targeted at high-caliber candidates who are currently employed in the private or public sector or who are self-employed. The participants are a group of high achievers with at least three years work experience, who wish to advance in their careers, by investing in their personal development.
Program Focus and Characteristics
To succeed in a dynamically evolving business environment, business managers need to think and act strategically. Our priority at ALBA ACT is to adopt a pragmatic approach whereby the theoretical content taught can be immediately applied to the real business world. The distinctive and innovative identity of the Executive MBA Program encompasses the following dimensions:
Holistic Approach: An integrative approach to business issues, which enables participants to enhance their general management skills and obtain the knowledge they require as managers. Courses in the Program are coordinated to emphasize links between the various business disciplines, thus helping participants to develop a holistic and integrated view of managing an organization.
Strategic Focus: The emphasis on strategic issues helps develop the skills of a successful strategic decision-maker in the presence of either competition or co-operation.
Integration across disciplines: Although individual courses cover all functional areas of a business, the focus of the program is on linking the courses and ensuring that the cross-functional effects of decisions are understood and integrated into the decision-making process.
Business Plan Project: The Business Plan Project offers participants the opportunity to integrate acquired knowledge across all business disciplines, by structuring and delivering a comprehensive business plan for a real company.
Business Game: The Program culminates with the Business Game simulation, aimed at putting participants' decision-making skills to the test in the context of a complex, dynamic and competitive environment where business decisions and competitor behavior affect one another.
Program Structure
The Executive MBA Program is a broad, general management Program. The curriculum has been designed to provide participants with the fundamental business knowledge and the skills and competencies needed to enhance their professional development.
