Letters of Recommendation

Letters of Recommendation are used to provide an insight to the applicant’s managerial ability and motivation. Therefore, the Admissions Committee requires that applicants procure recommendations from individuals who can best attest to these attributes. Current supervisors, managers, clients and co-workers often prove to be the best source. However, the Admissions Committee understands that informing these individuals of future plans can be impossible for a variety of reasons. The Admissions Committee asks that applicants limit their statements to the word counts of 500 to 750 words ascribed to each question.

Resumes should be submitted in a professional format and include contact information (name, address, phone, fax, email), educational background, work experience, and skills.

If the applicant does not achieve this minimum score the admissions committee may ask an applicant to take the English as a Second Language (ESL) proficiency exam. Depending upon the results of this exam, the applicant may be required to take coursework in Fordham University’s Institute of American Language and Culture prior to starting his or her MBA program.

Interviews

Interviews are not a required component of the application. Applicants may, however, request an interview. An interview will not be granted until the individual’s application has been deemed complete. As interview availability is limited, it is requested that an applicant submit his or her application at least 30 days before the application deadline to ensure an interview. The Admissions Committee may also request an applicant to come in for an interview. In this case the interview is a required component of the application process. Re: Global Professional MBA (GPMBA)

Global Professional MBA (GPMBA)

The Global Professional MBA (GPMBA) is designed for individuals planning careers in international business. This program responds to the growing demand for professionals who understand the mechanics of international business as well as the unwritten rules of cross-cultural communication management.

GPMBA is a dual core program in which students can expand on the regular MBA program. In addition to the traditional prerequisites and core courses, the program offers students a comprehensive international core plus experience bridge courses and a concentration in their chosen functional area.
Program length and course sequence

GPMBA students can choose between an accelerated full-time program and a part-time program. It is suggested that students take GPMBA core subjects in a particular sequence to allow courses to build one upon another. The schedule is flexible enough, however, to allow adjustments as student’s schedules demand.

Re: MBA / Masters in International Management

MBA / Masters in International Management
Dual Degree with Thunderbird University

The Fordham Graduate School of Business and the American Graduate School of International Management (“Thunderbird”) in Glendale, Arizona, have forged a partnership to offer a dual degree program, an MBA and Master’s in International Management (MIM).

The dual degree program requires a minimum of 75 credit hours – 45 credits at Fordham and 30 at Thunderbird. Attending full-time, students can complete all the requirements for both degrees in as little as 21 months. Participation in the dual degree program requires admission to and advance approval by both schools. Participating students can enroll in courses at either campus and take part in overseas programs and international projects sponsored by Thunderbird.
Post MBA

The Post MBA enables MBA graduates to further internationalize their knowledge of business practices and business environments. Because the MBA graduate (or the holder of a similar graduate degree) has a solid foundation in Graduate School of Business education, the Post MBA program at Thunderbird (which must be started no later than five years after graduation from Fordham) is designed to build upon that knowledge. A minimum of 30 credit hours are required. Students who are able to waive Level I language may be able to complete the program more quickly.
Overseas Programs

Thunderbird also has an Overseas Program, in which Fordham students may participate. Students enhance their knowledge and experience in the global business environment through participation in special study programs located around the globe.

For details, please contact Associate Dean Ilhan Akbil at (212) 636-6170 [email protected] or Associate Dean Lauren Mounty at (212) 636-7202 [email protected].
