The University

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) was founded in 1989 with the objective of offering high-quality graduate and undergraduate education and promoting high standards of research. The university attracts a large number of international students and has three modern campuses located in Madrid’s metropolitan area.
The Business School

UC3M Campus

The Business School – Department of Business Administration - was founded in 1993 and is responsible for teaching and research activities in all business-related areas: Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing.

The mission of the School is to conduct high quality business-related research publishable in the leading international academic journals; and to provide high quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
The Program

The Master of Business Administration is a one-year program which was first launched in 1997. It is delivered in two versions: English Version and Spanish Version. In 2005 the MBA programme was accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the most important international accrediting bodies and the only with an exclusive focus on MBA programs. There are only five AMBA-accredited programs in Spain.

The mission of the MBA Program is to provide professional business education based on high academic standards. The MBA Program takes advantage of the most relevant business research in order to provide an education that lasts and enables our graduates to pursue fruitful careers upon graduation. Through its curriculum the MBA Program also improves the practical skills and attitudes that are needed to succeed in today’s business world.

The School has an attractive exchange program with Arizona State University (ASU) whereby some of UC3M’s MBA graduates can spend an additional year there, entering ASU’s MBA program as second-year students.
The Faculty

The MBA has a total of 44 professors. 93 per cent have a PhD Degree and 95 per cent have a graduate (doctoral or Master’s) degree. Most of the MBA teaching staff has permanent affiliation with the Department of Business Administration, one of Spain’s most selective business education centers. Faculty members of other departments within UC3M and highly-skilled outside professional also contribute to create an exciting learning environment.

The Department of Business Administration has a strong reputation for following strict hiring and promotion policies and for active participation in international research fora.

Madrid city centre

The School is in a modern campus located in Getafe, just a short ride from Madrid’s city center. Madrid is not only the political capital of Spain, but is also burgeoning as its economic capital. Many Spanish firms are actively expanding their business to other European Union countries and are also becoming crucial players in Latin America. Most of these firms have their corporate headquarters in Madrid.
Student Life

The city of Madrid is increasingly international and multicultural, not only because of the international business links of Spanish companies, but also because of a large increase in immigration. With approximately 3.5 million inhabitants, Madrid offers an exciting combination of history and modernity in an increasingly multicultural environment. Madrid is art and culture everywhere. If you want to spend time in fantastic Barcelona, then IE Business School is a great choice. Its ranked highly internationally(8th in the world by the financial times 2012 global rankings) and its students go on to land great jobs internationally. They also have a great financial aid assistance and scholarship schemes. IE Business School Financial Aid director spoke to MBA news and networking site BusinessBecause to explain what role funding plays in the MBA admissions process. An MBA from a top school, says Joel, is in some ways like a "luxury product experience" and it’s definitely a long-term investment in the future - but what assistance does IE Business School provide to help finance this investment? The school offers scholarships via our charitable organization IE Foundation, which are merit-based and awarded to applicants who have excelled professionally/personally but do not have the resources to fund an MBA. You must fulfill a range of criteria (e.g. demonstrated financial need, sought after diversity, academic results, etc.) to apply for the various scholarships and you're advised to apply as soon as you're admitted to IE. Secondly, IE offers loans with rates of 3.5% to 5.5% and repayment periods of up to 10 years, and there are no penalties for early repayment. Additionally, we list 43 different lenders around the world, who offer competitive loan options in local currencies. Thirdly, they run the IE Fellows Program, providing financial assistance towards tuition fees in exchange for a contribution to an IE on-campus project. In total about 40% of IE MBAs benefit from these scholarships, loans and fellowships.
