NEW YORK — November 27, 2012 — Barbara Krumsiek, Chair, President, and CEO of Calvert Investments, has been selected to receive Columbia Business School’s 2012 Botwinick Prize in Business Ethics. The Botwinick Prize is an annual award recognizing an outstanding leader who exhibits the highest standard of ethical conduct in business or the professions. It is organized by the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Center for Leadership and Ethics, the umbrella for leadership and ethics activities at Columbia Business School. Ms. Krumsiek was awarded the Botwinick Prize for her commitment to ethical leadership and values at Calvert Investments, which is a globally recognized leader in the field of sustainable and responsible investing.

Ms. Krumsiek was honored with the award on Monday evening. During the ceremony, Ms. Krumsiek spoke to Columbia Business School students about her insights about this field from her career, spanning more than three decades in investment management, and the company’s innovative strategies that link sustainability with financial performance.

Columbia Business School Dean Glenn Hubbard commented, “The School is proud to recognize Ms. Krumsiek as an exemplary leader who has been committed to encouraging sustainable and responsible investing at Calvert. She is a terrific role model for our students, the broader business community, and women worldwide.”

Ms. Krumsiek currently serves as Co–Chair of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, a partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and 200 financial institutions around the globe mandated to develop and promote the links between sustainability and financial performance. Under her leadership at Calvert, the Calvert Women’s Principles were created in 2004, marking the first global code of corporate conduct focusing exclusively on empowering, advancing, and investing in women worldwide.

Ms. Krumsiek currently serves on several private and nonprofit boards. She is a board member of Pepco Holdings, Inc., Chair of the Board of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation, a Trustee of the Federal City Council, and on the Board of the Girl Scouts USA. She is a former Chair of the Greater Washington Board of Trade. She graduated from Douglass College, Rutgers University where she received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. She received a master’s degree in mathematics from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. Ms. Krumsiek, a native New Yorker, resides in Washington, DC with her husband, Bart Leonard.
