This question has been repeated Time and Again.

Why should Doctors do MBA ?
- Kartik Raichura.

A few days back an old childhood friend called me up. He is now a doctor and a brilliant one at that. Our conversation was revolving around everything, the school days, the college days, the things we did and shouldnt have done and the things we did not do..and should have done. Just in between the conversations, he pops up a question " Do you think I should pursue MBA ? "

So I researched on the internet and now that I have some data, thought I would share my findings with MP community.

Listing down few points below, Plain and simple. No Jazz or work of art.

a.) Doctor might have been forced to become a doctor because of his/her family background. A MBA degree would given him a bigger plane to experiment with his new found expertise in management.

b.) MBA degree would give doctors better profiles, salaries and challenging assignments in the Managed Healthcare sector.

c.) MBA degree is a great asset for Doctors who wish to open their own business in future.

d.) Doctors skills can be of tremendous value for planning financials , marketing plans , product design et al in the medicine field.

Management and Administration is needed in every field , every sector; medicine is no exception. While India is still in the nascent stage when it comes to doctor mba's, the future of doctor mbas is very bright.
