Canara College is an Arts, Science, Commerce and business management college that came into existence in the year 1973 and the college was established by the Canara High School Association. The college offers various courses in the aforesaid disciplines with affiliation from the Mangalore University.


Courses offered:

The list of courses offered by the Canara College is given below:

• Bachelor of Arts

o Group I: Languages – English, Sanskrit/Hindi or Kannada

o Group II: Optional Subjects – Sociology, Geography, Hindi, Kannada, English, Political Science, Economics and History

• Bachelor of Science

o Group I: Languages – English, Sanskrit/Hindi or Kannada

o Group II: Optional Subjects – Zoology, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Botany

• Bachelor of Commerce

o Group I: Languages – English, Sanskrit/Hindi or Kannada

o Group II: Optional Subjects – Insurance & Risk Management, investment management, auditing, cost and management accounting, taxation, banking, business statistics, etc…

• Bachelor of Computer Applications

• Bachelor of Business Management

Eligibility requirements:

For getting into the Bachelor of Arts course offered by the Canara College, candidates must have passed their two-year pre-university examination in any discipline conducted by the pre-university board of the state of Karnataka or any other equivalent examination as approved by the Mangalore University. For Bachelor of Science, candidates must have completed their pre-university or equivalent examination in science stream, while for Bachelor of Commerce course, pre-university course must have been completed with business studies and accountancy subjects. For BCA and BBM courses, candidates must have completed their pre-university or higher secondary or 10+2 examination from any recognized board of education.

Admissions:

After getting the application form from the campus of the college, completed applications must be sent to the Principle of the college within seven days from the publication of PUC Board examination result in the state of Karnataka. Selected candidates will have to join the college on or before the date prescribed after payment of the appropriate fees and candidates before selection will be called for interview, during the time of interview, the original copies of the following certificates must be produced:

• Transfer certificate

• Conduct certificate

• PUC Marks Board

• Eligibility or migration certificate from Mangalore University in the case of candidates from other states

Admissions will be made by the college according to the approval of the Mangalore University. List of selected candidates will be published in the notice board of the college.

Placement cell:

An active placement cell is functioning in the Canara College and this enables the students to avail career counseling sessions, placements, campus interviews and information on avenues of specialized and higher education.

Other facilities:

In addition to the placement cell, the students are offered with other facilities like laboratories, book bank, library, auditorium and railway concessions.
