Sarabhai Institute of Science & Technology got its name after the Dr. Vikarm A. Sarabhai, who was a great visionary and pioneer in the space science & technology field in India. It is self-financing institution established by the Space Engineers Welfare Society with approval from the Kerala Government. The institute is located in the outskirts of the city of Thirvananthapuram and it is affiliated to the Cochin University of Science & Technology.


Courses Offered:

Sarabhai Institute of Science & Technology offers the following courses:

• Bachelor of Technology in

o Civil Engineering

o Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering

o Electronics & Communication Engineering

o Electrical & Electronics Engineering

o Computer Science & Engineering

o Mechanical Engineering

Intake Capacity:

Sarabhai Institute is approved by the Cochin University of Science & Technology and AICTE to admit 60 students per year for each branch of engineering course offered, while for the Computer Science & Engineering branch alone, the intake capacity is 90 students per year.

Criteria of Eligibility:

Candidates must be Indian Citizens and they must have passed their higher secondary examination from the higher secondary education board of the state of Kerala or any other equivalent examination with at least 50% of aggregate marks in chemistry, physics and mathematics subjects and 50% of marks in mathematics alone or equivalent grade. Applicants must complete 17 years of age at the end of the year in which he/she is seeking admission.

Lateral Entry:

Candidates with three-year regular diploma in any branch of engineering from the State Board of Technical Education of the state of Kerala or any other approved board securing not less than 60% of marks in the final year of the course are eligible to apply directly to the second year of the B. Tech course in appropriate discipline. In the case of lateral entry candidates, the upper age limit is 28 years.

Admission Procedure:

Out of the total number of seats available for each course, 50% of seats are filled through Common Entrance Examination conducted by the State Government of Kerala and remaining 50% of seats are management quota seats filled by the institute itself without collecting any donation.

How to apply:

Candidates can get the prospectus and application form on payment of Rs.250 in the form of cash from the office of the college or they can also download the application form from the website of the institute by sending DD for an amount of Rs.250 drawn in favor of the Principal, Sarabhai Institute of Science & Technology payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Duly filled in application along with attested copies of necessary documents must be sent either through registered post or can be submitted directly to the office of the college.
