SJMSOM was established in 1995 to promote interdisciplinary learning and to keep up with the changing environment. It had the objective of transforming professionals with technological background into "Renaissance Leaders" of tomorrow. In the year 2000, the school was renamed to Shailesh J. The unique positioning of this school makes available to it technological resources, an incubation cell (SINE) and varied interdisciplinary sciences (Industrial design, Humanities,IT etc).
Master of Management program
The School Of Management through its flagship Master of Management (M.Mgmt) program seeks to develop managers for an integrated understanding of all business functions.
One unique feature of the program is that apart from the regular courses on Finance, Accounting, Operations and HR, SJMSOM prepares for technology management with core courses like Technology Management. “Mission, Vision and Leadership”, an innovative course to hone leadership skills, provides the students the opportunity to work under the mentorship of distinguished Indian business leaders.
The two-year course is organized into eight terms. The students go through 20 core courses, a month long winter project(optional), two-month long summer project, live projects and a four-month long final project. In the second year of the course, a wide range of electives is offered and the students are free to take up any specialization or to take up a mix of courses for General Management.
Entry in SJMSOM takes place through IITs’ Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET). JMET gives each candidate a rank. The candidates then apply for various IITs and IISc. Based on this rank, the institutes call candidates for GD/PI round. The entrance criterion for SJMSOM is an engineering degree or a masters in science.
