SOME SALIENT FEATURES OF PERFROMANCE APPRAISAL AT NOVARTIS
They all jointly set business goals, as well as Organizational and Personal Development goals with their direct reports at year end, after business goals for the company have been set.

If there are any differences in the opinion over the feedback of the appraisal then it goes to the appraisers supervisor for review.
Consequences both for strong and for poor performers are made clear.
The size and timing of salary increase are to be communicated soon after the appraisal meeting.
Development needs and ambitions are discussed six months later and captured in the appropriate form.
Annual performance review is done every year in the month of Jan-Feb, increments for the year (depending upon companies performance) are awarded by 31st March.

The customer is the most important person on our premises is an oft heard statement, Novartis Enterprises has added meaning to this sentence by extending it to all customers – internal and external. The Novartis Enterprises Award for Customer Satisfaction goes to the individual who works in close co-ordination with his/her customer, anticipating, understanding and fulfilling their needs. This needs. This person is customer driver and constantly works towards providing the customer with high quality products and services. He/she distinguish himself/herself by consistently demonstrating high levels of determination and commitment in achieving set goals. He/she demonstrates keen desires to upgrade own knowledge in an effort to fulfill development objectives. Then award is given to the person who has explored new frontiers in development and achieved good performance within a given item frame whilst adhering to agreed quality standards. The award seeks to acknowledge and give kudos to the individual for his/her efforts in scheming success.
