BMS SPECIALIZATION : FINANCE/MARKETING ?

I am a T.Y B.M.S student. Please tell me in detail about the 6th Semester specialization subjects of FINANCE & MARKETING and which one is a better option for me since I am basically from a SCIENCE background. I have been basically an average student in both finance and marketing related subjects in my 1st and 2nd years of B.M.S. Please guide me about the contents of both the subjects, whether there are theory questions in FINANCE as they are now in the subject FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT? Also guide me about the future job prospect related to both.

Even I m from TY.. I m taking IF & SSF..

Out of IF & Econotrix, IF can help you in life while Econotrix can just give you marks but no scope in life and hence just a waste..

When you take IF, SSF is the best combination along with it.. So, I have decided to take IF & SSF..

honestly wat matters is the ease of scroing in respect to theory n analytical subjects for MKTIN n FIN respectively. wat actually shud be ones concern is if they are comfortable in scoring most in which. coz 2 years after passin out of BMS it doenst matter one bit to me as a constraint or advantage in career plans. coz that ismoreover gonna be influenced by my MASTERs sepecialization

Honestly speaking, nowadays finance companies have come up with rules such as if you have taken marketing as your specialisation but if you apply for a finance job, then even if you are good at it, you wont get selected because of their policies.

Now, take into consideration that if you do not get admission in MBA colg this year, then probably you will land up doing a job.

Marketing jobs pay nowhere above 15k for a fresher, whereas finance jobs go as high as 25k.

Also, there are plenty of finance jobs available for freshers, but that isnt the case when it comes to marketing jobs ( for freshers )

Take it as a serious decision, just dont think about scoring or not scoring, think of where you see yourself best fit in future and select your majors.

im glad if some of us are aware of a bih picture as in selecting wat is that you are good at, but the one really eeds to know that the aspect of harnessing ur true potential is not all that easy even if u have an experience in a particular finance or marketing job. so much as we love to say that its the score that doesnt matter but if one is looking for further studies they are the only thing that matters and apparently my dear pal katrick if one has specialized with masters in something, wat one has opted for in bachelors isnt of much significance. this statem, ent is offcorz with the two very imp assumptions. First being that all off us do understand how significant it is to acquire a masters degree. coz there isnt a boost like it to ones career alike the STAMP of holdin a MAsters. Second assumption is the very point that wat one learns in his masters is not at all sufficient to survive in the industry regardless however good the particular college is. N well why wud u beleive me ....after all u can point out that m an ex.NMite so wudnt know wat it is like to do a degree in any other college!!!!

You just confused everyone with assumptions of your own.

1.) Scores are NOT the only thing that matter. To back that up, there are many students at IIM who have an aggregate of 60 percent throughout.
Topper's can be seen working with the average scoring guys doing the same job at JPMC.

2.) Never assume. MBA degree is only as good as colg placements. There are IIM grads teachin at Coaching centres for 40k pm .

3.)
ex.NMite so wudnt know wat it is like to do a degree in any other college!!!!

M an ex. NMite, ex Mithibaite. But that doesnt really matter now, does it.

Bottom line is, while choosing your majors, know what the market demands, know if you would like to pursue studying that, know if you are comfortable with that subject.

You never know, the simplest subject can have the most difficult question paper and vice versa.

my friend comparing those stuck with high scores but still workin for JPMC also is a result of the selcetion procedure of the COmpany itself n offcorz all of us do know that there are other parameters than scores when candidates are selected for placement. Especially if u hav heard of GDs n PIs. but offocrz im sure u have rite????

well ur assumption that there shud be no assumption sounds quite ironic ???
offcorz do pardon me sir n lemme rephrase myself to avoid confusion....as most of us lesser folks KNOW for a FACT tthat we stand a better chance of gettin somewhr equipped with a masters then as a plain grad. in case im unclear again im sure neone else in this thread is mst welcome to rephrase me so that our buddy katrick can comprhend such n obvious fact.

the whole point i made is that being n nmite is not different then from ne other college. i rephrase myself again ~~~"NM is havin the said rankin in the top 10 BMS colleges BUT is definately not living up2 its reputation" read that in bold yaar. im not emphasising me bein an NMite ...heck im simply sayin that any college that is ranked in the top ones need not be worth it. n who can judge it better than one who has studied in it. SO DUDE AGAIN please dont feel that m sorry to be n NMITE...bloddy hell i am proud to be an NMite BUT it is nothing to do with the speculation that ranks it in the TOP 10 or the top 5 college. AGAIN I SIMPLY M SAYIN the bloody RANKin is the most speculative thing ever.

AND come on no one can argue to the fact that our education system itself has the glitch. DOin satyagrahs s not gonna help unless its the only way out. coz who ever tries to be radical is simply wiped out. so let it be !

COMING back to the topic of what to select in TY gguys. SELCT wat u most comfortable but do keep in mind the scorin of each subject and also look fwd to a masters with a specialization of what really intrests. TWO completely diff levels whr opting wisely willl get u places . SO all the best for by now im sure ur ^th sem classes wud had already started.

All that ultimately boils down to 1 thing.

Take a subject which interests you . Scores will automatically follow.

Taking a subject which doesnt interest you , how much ever scoring, cant gaurantee good marks if you just dont like studying it :)

i have choosen Finance,

i know, i will get the job, as soon as i complete my TY

Job opportunities are more, as compare to Marketting.................

At the end of the day...............depends upon ur interest, whether to go

For Finance or Marketing..........................
