the conditon of market is before you ECONOMIC RECESSION and now TERRORIST ATTACK any suggestions from you all.

|touchwood| but my college has got atleast some placements wherein companies are coming with packages upto 8 lacs pa..
But certainly there are less jobs in the market...
So, the only option left is to become an entrepreneur..
The benefit of becoming an entrepreneur is that you dont have to depend on others for the job and also that u can create job opportunities for your juniors...
But again the question is that become entrepreneur in which business?? really tough to answer...
Few companies came in campus for the hardcore finance... Lets hope..
Otherwise I will need help from the forumites for the placements...

There are many MBA-Finance Students who are opting for CFA, CA, CS than taking up a low profile job.
Some are going for PhD while the rest are taking entrepreneurial route.
Marketing profiles dont seem to be affected in pay or profile in comparison to last year though the competition is tougher and MBA engineers are getting preference over MBA's with other background.
I'd love to know more from our members as to whats the situation at their institute

in our institute also situation is very bad. placements are going on but packages have reduced drastically and so is the number of students placed in each company. everyone is waiting to get placed. people are ready to work for low package, due to the market situation. everyone is also trying on his/her own for the job and some have got good placement outside also. students of all the specialisation are affected, no stream is left unaffected. well what our students are doing is applying outside in various companies, and very few have chosen the entrepreneurial route.

hi ankit!! you forgot to mention which IIPM you belong to? becos as per the chennai branch which i belong to is facing no placements at all.. n all my senior are being offered only abt 3lacs CTC which is worse.. we pay more than 7 to 8 lacs for that... that package was for a marketing job.. leave alone finance n HR...?? its big question mark in most of the college... but inspite all this LIBA can still manage about 6 to 7 lacs CTC with companies like CTS n ICICI... still depressed with the time now...

hiiiiiiiiii...evry1 !!!!!!!! ya i agree with u all ppl...condition z bad but in my college der r sme gud fmcg co,s hv cme wit low packages...but thank god i got placed.....dis yr watevr cmes tk it...later on u decide wat u do bcoz getting a job z tougher than leaving..so watevr it cmes take it........

Which company did you get placed in? What profile , package? Whats the kind of packages that fmcg companies are offering at your institute? We'd love to know.

There are a lot of institutes that offer PhD in Management including ISB, IIM, XLRI, Xaviers, Nirma to list a few.
The course is also known as FPM, Fellowship programme in Management. If you dont want to settle for a job thats coming your way, then investing time in getting degrees is one of the best alternatives.
