Indian men, get set to marry at 18

If India at 60 gives an impression of mellowness and maturity that most of us can't relate with, here is young India with a median age of below 25, bursting with fervour and vigour. Right from sports to scientific research to technical know-how, Indian youth is savvy on all fronts. But what about taking important life decisions? Is he able to manage when it comes to shouldering responsibility of a family? At least the law commission feels so. It has proposed that the age of marriage for both boys and girls should be 18 since no scientific logic justifies the gender difference in marriageable age. It has also suggested that marriages between sub-16 years be declared void. Will the law panel's proposed move do away with the alarming number of unregistered and illegal marriages? Do you think an 18-year-old is mentally and financially prepared for marriage?

No, definitely not. I think Indian men neither mentally nor financially prepared for the marriage responsibility. Normally at the age of 18 boys should concentrate on career and this compititative world we cann't ignore the importance of career and. marriage at 18 not only spoil his career but also his life. In marriage, both should be matured so that they could enjoy as well as carry responsibility effectively so that they provide firm platform to their children also. So this discussion is not limited to the men and woman but also their offsprings.

At 18 , A person will not be able to handle the stress of handling his job and his wife.
Well if he is blessed with a good loving wife. Still there wont be any work life balance.
He wont be able to handle things, ultimately everything will fall apart.

Certainly 18 is not the desirable age... Though the government has prescribed 21, Men should get married only after finishing their studies and financially indepedent enough to get married and in any case, this should be completed before the age of 26-28, ideally

i feel that 18 is too young a age for any person boy or girl to be mentally mature to adjust to the complex relationship of marriage....
in a country like India where marriage is normally considered as a life long bond, will the boy n girl be capable of giving in to each other's wishes n make the marriage a successful relationship is a matter to be deeply contemplated on

well an18 yr old is mentally matured...but as far as financially it is concerned it depends...in todays scenario young in urban india are themselves prolonging their marriages because they are going 4 higher studies and their career is settled ard age of 23-24.. as far as rural india is concerned young get financially independent at early age...so its useless to keep different age limits for man and woman.
