Is social science real science?

I use Google Alerts to receive links to material I'm interested in. Currently, one such interest is Simon Baron-Cohen's new book "Zero Degrees of Empathy." Yesterday, a batch of links arrived, one to thAutcast.com, "A Blogazine for the Aspergers and Autism Community." Baron-Cohen's no leading light to them, but rather a purveyor of psuedo-science. Fine. The link is to a clip of the late (great) physicist Richard Feynman riffing on social sciences being less than real ones. The clip's just under two minutes long---an excerpt from a longer interview, I suppose--and worth a listen as a possible conversation starter.

I don't think social science is a science. Do you really believe that the scientific methods and formulas can be applied with the society and social relationships? The problem is whether anybody can take a scientific strategy to solve the problems and goals of society.
