Indian Censor Board lacks a proper procedural adherence -
3 Weeks Ago
Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. is set to release the definitive Michael Jackson movie, This Is It, in at least 150 screens across India on 28 October to coincide with its worldwide release, but advance bookings so far have not met expectations.
Tickets booking is made available online however the online booking system hasn’t worked so well yet..and only the advance booking is open online because cinema houses canot sell tickets over- the-counter till a movie clears the censor board in India.
Kercy Daruwala, managing director, Sony Pictures Entertainment Films India, has blamed the Indian censor boards long winded procedures for the failure.
I think its high time that the Indian Censor Board needs to either revise the regulations and amend them to reflect a more mature society....
Janta's call on this ???

Maturity. How can we define Maturity? How can we measure maturity?
Rules plays important role in providing restrictions to What a Human Being does. Rules do correlate with maturity. And some people say.. Rules are made to be Broken!!. Is a rubbish stance. Those who bind by rules do succeed, do learn and come out with success. But when we break the rules.. Then we may be satisfied but we will always have thing in back of our mind of breaking rules.
Just to contradict above statement, Rules should not be so strictly binded that person tends to frustrate and break the rules. Rules & Regulations in India on a higher side is defined as "under the Table" tactics to get the requirements completed. It reminds me of License Raj.. Which was prevailing before Mr.Rajiv Gandhi came into power. You want license, then either you pay "Rishwat" or follow the rules and procedures to avail licenses.
Comin to the topic.. Censor Board has many procedures to follow which intends to somewhat oppose every person right to see and hear. May be change of management with new additions from each field say Media, Production houses, Social activist, National leader etc may sort of this issues. Since most are the stakeholder and know the issues for delayed judgment can help in speedy process and may come up with new amendments.
Thanks & Regards,
Keep smiling. Each time you smile, not only you add some more minutes to your life but people around you get positive energy.

I am totally agreed with you and i also feel that there is strong need to change working of censor board. I think information and broadcasting minister of India must interfere in this case. Also we have seen some cases in past which put question mark on working of censor board. In case of GHAZINI movie it was released without Adult certificate as there was excessive violence was in that movie i think censor board is not working properly and there is strong need to revise the working committee's rules and regulation to avoid such cases in future.

@helper Thanks for all that gyan on Maturity, rules & regulation..and thanks for taking time to look wat issue is in focuss here...
well as exemplified by Gurpreet in his post above...it is clear that the Indian censor board has double standards!!
The question is...Does the film rating and censorship system in India need to be revised?

kaplana.. gurpreet... you both have said a very correct thing...
more than the job they are supposed to be doing, what is happening at the censor board now is politics...
we need to put some sensible person in the board who can actually evaluate the film and give appropriate rating
it is not an easy job.. coz that person will have to consider so many different things (given the wide diversity of our country) and the ever changing mood of the junta
Well, just like politics.. it is like 'wait and watch' for something good to happen...
