I think a helpful & understanding partner makes a big difference regardless whether you work or a stay at home person.

I've seen some terrible child rearing by stay at home parents and vice versa.
It's tough no matter what.

But then again, I don't have kids.

The one who can provide the basic amenities and spends quality time....it doesn't matter if she is a working woman or a house wife...A housewife can too be not present when her child needs her.. she can just gossip with her neighbours or sumthin like that..

this is a bit difficult to answer, because it purely depends on that particular individual. even if she works, she can manage her household and kids, and if she is a housewife, then also she can help her out in family, sometimes housewives fail to take care of her family or children because she lacks knowledge or exposure which a working lady normally has.

I think remaining active is more important rather than debating whether one should have a job or not. Even if one is a housewife and doesn't have a full time job, still I feel one should be involved in some activity like social work, or some art or craft, something to keep you developing into a better human being and not become a couch potato only watching those stupid sitcoms.

working or staying at home has no relation to being a mother.....a nmother who stays at home might neglect her kids more than a working one,or might have more temper issues and stuff,so i think that its 2 completely different issues

well according to me a mother is always a mother,be it a workin lady or a housewife.

There a lot of factors other than the occupation of the person that determine whether she would make a good mother or not. Depends on the individual.
