this is a question that is asked by our grand pa & grand uncles according to dem we have forgotten what is happiness. they say that in our fast paced life we dont know wat is it to be happy.

i accept the fact that we have lost the slow paced life but i feel at that time even dey must be feeling that their forefathers are much happier than them thats why i feel its a cycle that just flows.

I believe, happiness comes from stability. Everyone in this world wants stability. But that is not possible at all.
Even Mr Maslow's hierarchy diagram says that. Person has to have his basic needs, than something better, then something more better n so on till he reaches self actualization stage. Even @ that level he is not satisfied as he desire for more.

Humans can never be fully satisfied as our needs become our wants. We need food but we want MacD burger.

One cant DEBATE that our forefathers were more happy or not. For instance, Britishers treated us like dogs and if we were happy that time nobody would have wanted freedom. Now when we are free, again we ask whether we are happy or not.

Its just the matter of stability which everyone wants and never achieves completely.
We need to be happy and satisfied with whatever work we do.

Well i think that our forfathers were more happier than us. Yes i accept time has given lot to us, lots of facilities, etc but it has also increased stress in our life. We live more comfortable life than our forefathers but ask your self you are happy ? i can 100% say we are not happy because we forgot the emotions, sentiments, and feelings. In present world we are nothing less than a robot with a brain, a robot who only wants to live for himself, a robot who is only concerned with his work.
I will say that our forefathers were lucky as they were close to nature, they lived for each others.

our forefathers may or may not have been happier than we are. they had their own reasons for stress and had to face problems which we are not facing today. i think it is how well we live each moment that decides our happiness and comparison between then and now is not possible as the scenarios are totally different

Being a Mauritian of Hindu faith, my forefathers came from India and if I make a flashback, I can say that we are far much better and happy than them. The rift between us and them are gigantic.

Thumbs up Re: are we happy than our forefathers>?? - October 3rd, 2009

Well,

When you talk about stress then, deffiniately our forefathers were happy, but there are various aspects where answer changes.

Technologies- Well no need of explanation, we all know we are more happy in terms of technologies & Luxuries.

Education-Also in older days there was a less education whereas now-a-days there is so many talk about Educational Importance.

Political Leaders-Huh..Deffiniately our forefathers were happy by having such a great leaders who were ready to 'Fanah' for 'Bharat Mata', whereas now situation is what we have already seen.

Socialism-In older days guest were treated as god, & now many of us don't like to have guest as we have leisure time just in weekends, so socialism were rich.

And there are many aspects where answer differs...

But I can say that spirit of being Indian is still there in the heart of our 'Youngistan'....& I think we should be happy for this only.

Jai Hind...
