Truth vs. Lie - are we overestimating the value of Truth?

Somebody said: "Only women and doctors know how much people need the lie". What do you think about his statement?

Most of us say that we prefer the truth over the lie, but is it so? Are we really honest with ourselves when we say that...?

No body needs a lie. Fera is what makes many of us to lie and we think that somehow we will get away with it. But our integrity is greatly compmised.

My view about Truth or Lie is plain and simple, and very general for that matter.

Mother's dont' want their kids to lie, because it is in our minds that lie is devil. Is it really? This is something that has been thought over generations - the consequences has been devastating - from a getting a hot scolding from a father to getting tongue pulled out.

BAD or GLAD:
However, forgetting about whether Lie is GOOD or EVIL... if we think with a clear mind, and realize by telling a Lie I made someone happy, should I feel BAD coz I lied, or GLAD coz I made someone's day?

PAIN or GAIN:
More often than not, TRUTH results in Pain....
More often than not, LIE is the source of a Gain

I am not saying we should use LIE as our only ALLY, all I want to say is that it is all in our minds, how we interpret TRUTH, LIE and other controversial thoughts...

i agree wid you.... truth is always preferable but speaking lies in certain situation (say when its required for good purpose) can be done.
Only thing it should not hurt people.

I think Truth and Lie both are important in today's world
at many situations our lie is much more bigger than a truth. Yes i agree we all should speak truth and try to follow it but it does not mean we speak truth which could harm someone, which hurt someone's feelings,and which break relations. In some situations our lie can save someone's relationships, could make someone happy and could make this world a better place to live.
TRUTH AND LIE ARE THE THINGS WHICH REQUIRE USE OF MIND AND HEART MIND FOR THINKING WHETHER OUR TRUTH IS RIGHT OR WRONG AND HEART TO JUDGE THAT WHETHER LIE CAN BE BETTER THAN TRUTH IN PARTICULAR SITUATION.

I think Truth or Honesty is The Best Policy... Truth is like BitterGourd.. It feels bitter in the beginning but has many advantages... like when we say truth we are confident and happy.. and lie is like sweets... sometimes good but can cause trouble at the end... But in some cases telling lie is good. For Example When A mother lies to her child when he refuses to eat food that " eat the food otherwise police will come and take you".. like When someone is having incurable disease and is gonna die but his family and friends lies to him that he will soon be cured... and he is fit and fine... I mean the lie which is for betterment of someone like in the examples or which helps others and is for good of all and society is fine... but telling lie should not be made a habit coz otherwise we will be in situation like of that boy in story of wolf and shepherd... wherein the boy rearing sheeps use to daily lie that wolf came and make fool of villagers... but one day wolf came in reality and he shouted for help but no one came for help and the boy lost all his sheeps.. I mean if we speak too much lie people lose trust on us and they don't trust us when we actually speak the truth... so i will conclude that truth and lie both are necessary if they are for betterment of all and they don't hurt anyone...
