No. I disagree. Indian culture doesn't approve of this. Simple affection is ok and can be shown in a more healthy way. Although kising is nowadays very common and seen in most movies and even in sitcoms have also made there way into news stories. I really cant imagine whch direction we are moving to.

Depends on what you call Public. I don't think one should kiss in public to attract attention. It is not about Indian Culture or anything... But Kissing or any act for that matter must be according to the situation. For e.g. Why do we say not to blow horns in hospitals or talk loudly in libraries. We are just respecting the situation and the people who are in it. However, If you kiss your beloved while bidding good bye at the airport, I think it is O.K.

K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Sily... A smooch or a peck are acceptible, but when you get into deep kissing, groping, making out... that is totally inappropriate. When you start making others around you uncomfortable, you should draw the line. It should not look obscene.
That's right.... no problem with little public display of affection but let it form a line till a peck not deeper. And indians should focus on certain issues than these because Y make a issue about something which all of us or will do!
When we hide things more there is more temptation to do it.... n when it is open to all people really dont bother much.... Like people in foreign countries dont drop their jaws looking at people kissing or at a girl wearing a deep neck cloth because they are so used to watching these.... so they dont bother to give a second look

Are relations so insecure that public display of care and love is needed these days? Or is it such a style statement one wants to show the people over? In any case i don't agree of kissing in public.

i mean , a mother or grand perants can kiss a yunger one ,
a frn can hug & kiss when both r meetingafter long time or if one of our dearst person is moving apart 4m us thre r verious reasons 4 a kiss
& kissing any1 is not bad it's a way of expressing our emotions..

@ priya: u have very well mentioned about the situations and i truly agree with you.its the way that matters that indicates the feelings.
@ melroy: kissing is not at all a bad gesture if you are cmfrtable seeing them along with your mother and sister or say ur family..
the main problem with us is we all call ourself very Hep kindoff generation ... kissing or say liplocking is always okay with us. but then y do we avoid taking our sisters and mothers( srry but i have to say that) to discos or any such places whre we feel that there is a possibilty of getting such couples.y do we watch all those"A" movies without our families??
all those people in deep love who find kissing adorable in public have a dn't care-give a damn attitude.y u guys dn't evn hold ur hands in frnt of ur parents... if u r soo bindass and so upfront whom u r afraid of??
i guess its nt narrow mindedness but the culture and values that still make us ashamed when we come across such situations with our families.we have a country who have given scriptures lie "kamasutra" also BUT have u noticed taht there is always a sense of respectfulness( i dn't hv the rt wrd boss!!) in every act they depict..the expressions are carved very carefully keeping in mind the deference of recreational act from vulgarity/ vasana.
take care
