Yes , Hostel is good for student ,
-It Decreases travelling time of student and increasing study time.
-It helps student to manage there daily activities , hence improves time managing skill.
-student become self reliant
- He is in proper environment for study.

hostel would help 1 to become self-independent..learn to manage oneself properly.....it teaches students to adapt themselves to any environment....

but i disagree wid this...hostel environment may not be called the "PROPER OR SUITABLE"environment for studying as there are many other kinds of distractions...a student is all on his own..got lots of thngs to do ..so managing time for "other things" as well as study wud be a lil. difficult....

Re: hostel study - May 15th, 2007

I would normally discourage Hostel for children. The child can be brought with discipline with the parents.Hostel admission would be preferred only in cases where a child is admitted to a school that is too far from home.Being a child,i would suggest it shud grow under the clutches of its mother.

There would be psychological impact on the children growing in hostel. One can't expect a motherly care from a hostel which is needed for a child.

Re: hostel study - May 22nd, 2007

hey fatima...
it depends on the student itself...
1st i wanna ask did he himself asked fr a hostel or is it a family decision?
if you feel your brother is conscious enough fr his life goals and has already matured to take good decision & responsibility in his life( that can be reflected in his past career decisions), then certainly hostel is gud fr him.

otherwise if he is nt that mature, better keep him with the family, as 10th class is the turning pt fr life, the marks one gets are scripted throughout life in every career decision, it gives you an insight of which way you should go...as its boards so it makes altoghther tough fr the students to cope with the stress alone.. he needs support ( he says or dn't say this!!)family plays a crucial role as silent supporters ... any wrong decision can change the things....
if people say they can't study at home, they are nt totally correct as in home we tend to take things casualy , we ignore the help which we get frm our parents,fr ex a small thing as gud food, timely lunch, dinner etc.the opinion which we get fronm our peers,it helps us in keeping a chk on our performance!!!..
my opinion is that in hostel no matter how tough you seem to be, you have to fight with all those cruel things like jealousy of fellows, their cribbings, ur fights, bad food, dirty washings( ya tahts true!!) all by yourself...its totally a different wrld & must say nt a very gud wrld to be in at the most crucial time of ur life!!
so better take the decision acordingly...
take care

sure ankit, they cud get to learn a lot..if they r mature enuff to understnd wht shd they learn..

by this i meant, if the child ain mature,in the hostel..u cud get to learn thngs which might be good as well as bad..[u stay always in d com. of ur frenz]..so it wud be lyk,if u r in the wrong fren circle....u wud learn bad thngs[drinking,smoking,..etc.many thngs happen durin hostel lyf]..well but tht agn wud depend on oneself..if u knw wht habits u cud adapt from others n wht nt, it wud nt be a problem...

otherwise, one has to be on his own during hostel lyf,all d work, from washing clothes to keeping the house clean+managing 1s study...it wud be a nice experience......

Am i too late to post here!....Well we owe our parents everything and they have made us who we are....the qualities, the virtues , the habbits...everything...In a hostel these qualities are not passed from parents ....after getting into a hostel we learn from friends...and if they are bad...ohhh boy do expect a monster out of that child...there are cases of suicide...coz many stupid crappy things like suicides and all have taken place thankx to ragging....only 1 good thing about a hostel i can think off is that a person can be independent in the fututre ,meaning he dosent have to be pampered...he will make his own food, iron his clothes ,wash it...do all the chores....and will standup for himself....soooo ...this is what i think...

Re: hostel study - November 17th, 2008

well if its for the children then hostel study is not good, because they can get indulged into wrong things because they dont have much knowledge at that time about good or bad.
