I guess itz deal where Corus agreed to sell their stake for other companies.There was a bit of forcefulness in the words of Acquistion or takeover.So I would call it a deal

thnx for ur reply dude...but actually on net nd even in magzines some say its acquisition nd some say take over....even media differs....so its very confusing for me 2 decide..but i need to know wht xactly it is...so plzz help me out....

Its acquisition if i m not mistaken.. take over's are forceful ... which wasnt the case here... 2 companies were bidding for the stake.

Tata's deal was a takeover at the rate of 608per share as against the 603 quoted by CNS. THe deal was finalized at USD 12.3 bn

TakeOver : The act or an instance of assuming control or management of or responsibility for something, especially the seizure of power, as in a nation, political organization, or corporation.

Acquisition When one company purchases a majority interest in the acquired.


The tata corus was a take over as well as an acquisition.


Take over means taking over the management and acquisition means acquiring a company.

It is an aquisition since there was bidding that took place and both the contenders gave their bid for Corus. and the highest bidder won. so there is nothing hostile in it and the process went as a fair deal. the major intention was to get the control over Corus and moreover, the Corus managent is still there.
