Asian equity markets declined on Thursday, snapping a four-day winning streak, following a tepid handover from Wall Street and as investors focused on regional earnings reports.

China’s Shanghai Composite was down 2.14 points at 2107.82. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng shed 55.28 points at 22230.51. Japan’s Nikkei fell 145.14 points at 14654.92.

Singapore’s Straits Times was up 6.78 points at 3042.23. South Korea’s Seoul Composite was down 3.13 points at 1932.71. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted declined 30.09 points at 8480.78.

Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng rose 122.43 points at 22287.96. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was up 1.17 points at 3041.07. South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite rose 16.42 points at 1943.38.

Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted added 77.30 points at 8545. China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was flat at 2097.80. Japan%u2019s Nikkei was down 13.51 points at 14521.23.

Asian equity markets rose on the first trading day of the week following a strong lead from Wall Street on Friday while investors shrugged off weak economic data from Japan.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite jumped 0.24 percent or 5 points at 2,120.85. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng gained 1.06 percent or 235.48 points at 22,533.89.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei rose 0.56 percent or 80.14 points at 14,393.17. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times added 0.64 percent or 19.52 points at 3,058.23. South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite was up 0.33 percent or 6.48 points at 1,946.76.
