Hello friends,

the benefits of IT revolution is quite known. IT drives our employment and majority of our workforce, especially graduates in Engineering domain have been recruited in this industry. This has eased of the pressure on the educational institutes and the Gov. to provide jobs to graduates. Not only jobs but also it has given hope to ordinary student from a small town to educate himself and earn in this industry. This way it has a major impact on the society and education as a whole. This has attracted the funds to our country and fuelled our economic growth at a faster rate.

There are negative aspects of this also. If you consider the ITES industry, the people recruited are not even graduates and they quite education early to make easy money, which has a bad impact on society as a whole. The call centre culture has had a bad image on the students by forcing them to work in night shifts and thereby disturbing their natural routine. Then there is increased pay which contributes to people getting diverted from other industries into IT. This affects growth of other industries too as in good talented students join IT and don't prefer manufacturing, chemical, textile or other industries even if they have done major studies in those areas. This is a bad thing in the 21st century when India is driving to increase its industrial output and innovate in manufacturing and service industry has hampered in that aspect.

But overall I would say IT industry has triggered the Indian growth and utilising Indian talent in a way that was never conceived. But we need to pause and reassess our strength and our vision to optimise our resources so that we don't lag behind the world in innovation.
