In the simple sense, the medical technicians in clinical laboratory science are referred to as Cytotechnologist. These professionals are trained in such a way as to identify diseases by tracking the cellular abnormalities. By analyzing the structure and function of tiny human cells, they can identify the signs of diseases like cancer. They mainly involve with diseases like cancer. If the cancerous cells are detected early, the chance of recovery of the patient is high.

Other than cancer, these professionals also deal with diseases like Tumors, diabetes or thyroid problems. If the cytotechnologist detects any abnormal cells, the same is passed to a pathologist for verification. Qualifying Exam

The candidate has to pass the bachelors’ degree in cytotechnology to get in to the post of the same. Another option is to undergo a short-term course in cytotechnology, after completing the one-year degree in general science. Moreover, the aspirant has to pass a qualifying examination to become a licensed cytotechnologist. Those with such eligibilities are selected through written exam or interview by the employing firm.

Who are eligible to apply?

Those aspirants who have passed the undergraduate degree in cytotechnology or certificate courses in the same after completing graduation are eligible to apply. The students should pass plus two, preferably in science stream to undergo the undergraduate degree in cytotechnology.

Experienced and licensed candidates are preferred more by the employers when compared to their counterparts.

Moreover, the aspirant should be passionate in working with cells and tissues, and in identifying the abnormalities in them.
