Imagine if a "backwards" developing agricultural economy could learn to make use of American-style precision farming methods, such as satellite weather forecasts, GPS-guided fertilizer application, and online commodity markets. Even on a small scale, such knowledge could transform many struggling economies and vastly increase the standard of living for their citizens. But without the education to make use of these technologies, even massive technology grants and aid programs would be wasted. With the right education, such programs would be investments in the world economy which could pay enormous dividends.
