define the term hardware?

the physical components, peripherals and equipment that comprise a computer system, as compared to the logical system software programs and routines, that run the computer and the application programs that supports the tasks of end users . if you can break it with a hammer , it's hardware. otherwise , it's a software .ex. :monitor , c.p.u., keyboard etc.
 
Hardware is a general term for the physical artifacts of a technology. It may also mean the physical components of a computer system, in the form of computer hardware.
 
Actually the computer system contains two main parts hardware and software. Software are the programs which are installed in the computer. The term hardware represents all the physical components, devices, tools and peripherals like keyboard, mouse, monitor etc are the hardware.
