Darkness greets Indian players

The Indian players are back from the West Indies after a disastrous World Cup campaign.
Back home there were no fans to greet them but only heavy security. Most members of the Indian cricket team landed in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore early on Thursday morning.
And the shock of their departure is being felt not just in India, but even the tournament seems to have lost some of its sheen.
Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan landed in Mumbai and drove away quietly while the police escorted Virender Sehwag and Mahendra Singh Dhoni after landing in Delhi.
Skipper Rahul Dravid and Robin Uthappa landed at Bangalore airport a month too soon and they were clearly not welcomed.
Some cricket fans were present at the airport not to greet the players but vent their ire.
"If these people can't perform these people shouldn't have been selected. We should have new players now," one fan said.
"We have excepted the defeat but the anger won't go," another fan added.
The defeat against Sri Lanka in the last league match had all but sealed India's fate in the World Cup and their absence is being felt.
"India are one of the most exciting teams in world cricket with the players they have. They bring to the game excitement along with Pakistan. They are teams that are exciting and have skillful players," says Australian coach John Buchanan.
With the Indian team now back home, the tournament lost some of its charm. But the show must go on and cricket should not lose.
The exit of the Men in Blue from the tournament may have angered the fans back home and evoked sympathy in some quarters but some participants in the World Cup are more direct.
"India and Pakistan didn't deserve to be here as they didn't play well enough. So the other team teams that are here deserve their spot," says Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.
For the members of the Indian team the next few weeks will probably be spent in front of TV screens following the action from the West Indies wondering what went wrong.

common guys lets give them a chance. they will come back stronger-FAILURE IS THE STEPPING STONE TO SUCCESS.the problem with us indians is that we make GODS out of humans & expect them to perform miracles which is simply not possible. i'll conclude that no matter what people say but always remember that EVERY DARK CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING!!! so keep faith in them and they will surely perform.....WORLD CUP IS NOT THE END OF THE ROAD,isn't it?????

i totally agree with you saquib...

but thn going to the world cup being a stong contender and losing out to an upcoming team like Bangladesh is somethin really bad...

what i personally feel is that our Cricketers were having more of fun in Westindies...
they were like taking breaks from Practice sessions and emnjoying festivals...now this is not done...

you are going and representing one billion people and then u don't understand your responsibilities...it matters and people are going to take certain actions on it...

What I feel is , giving them a chance would be a fair option considering that every team has its day, and maybe that day was for bangladesh.

Also, bangladesh has also won against australia, so it should not come as a surprise that we lost.

Now, I feel rooss got a point , when he says the matches were taken too lightly, the sport spirit is gone.. its just ended up as a huge business for companies and cricketers are more of brand icons than cricket icons.

Failing miserably when you represent a population of billion should certainly not be tolerated.

If we do tolerate, we would come out as a pativrata wife kinds who keeps forgiving her husband regardless of his never ending extra matrital affairs.
