Hi friends,

I'm in a quest after any information regarding "DAILY BREAD" (the bakery chain)!

I'm doing a huge project (a kind of a full business plan) on a retail bakery chain in India.
I chose daily bread as a reference (it is also as i understand the biggest competitor in the market).

Works, Statistics, Articles, Reviews, Links... or in short, any information regarding my subject, and more specifically, reg. DAILY BREAD will be for a big help.

Sorry for the late response. Your input is for a great help. In case i will be totally out of material reg. Daily-bread i now have your idea, and can convert the subject to Monginis Bakery. Based on a first impression, i assess Daily Bread is differentiated based on a better quality performance, hence, targets a different market segment - but still, in many aspects i find similarities that are in my interest. so, again, THANKS for the lead and if you come across more info/links you find relevant to either i would be grateful. Chao, Chao!

The Story of the Rising Cake
The Monginis brand name originated over 100 years ago, when 2 Italian brothers
set up a catering firm in south Mumbai.
Monginis catering services including cakes, pastries and savories were in great
demand. To the last detail, complete with a wedding cake it was Monginis that

The company has two strategic business units
1. STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNIT – I (SBU – I)
This business comprises of establishment of
franchised cake shops. The product range
would include all unpacked cakes & pastries;
bread products; chocolates & cookies; birthday

and non veg. patties, rolls, croissants, etc. the
franchisee would also be required to trade in
approved non-edible items like birthday

Terms and Conditions
1. The franchisee must have a clear title on the
proposed shop as “owner”.
2. The company will supply goods to the shop at a fixed
billing price. The franchisee will mark up
(a) 25% on cakes, savouries, party accessories
(b) 17.65% on Breads, Cookies, Chocolates and other
items
(c) Materials like trays, tongs, gloves, uniforms, tissues,
packing material etc. will be made available at
subsidized cost; generally around 50%
The MRP is fixed for all products by the company
3. One time security deposit of Rs. 1,00,000/- ;
refundable and non-interest bearing
4. One time franchisee fee of Rs. 25,000/-
5. Architect’s fee of Rs. 25,000/-
6. Returns –
(a) For the first 21 days from the date of opening of the
dealers shop, the Company shall take back all the
products which would become stale and / or unfit for
human consumption and give 100% refund of the
purchase price to the dealer.
(b) Refund 75% of the purchase price of products on
cakes, pastries, bars and other resale items and 85% of
the purchase price of breads and savouries items which
become stale and /or unfit for human consumption.
7. Cost of interiors including counters, air conditioners,
computer etc. to be borne by the franchisee
8. Licenses and legal requirements to be arranged for by
the franchisee
9. The franchisee has to submit pre-signed cheque
books – 300 leaves for MFPL and 100 leaves for Delicia.
10. Monginis Exclusivity – the franchisee has to
preserve the exclusiveness of the franchise and should
display, stock and sell only the products manufactured
and / or supplied by the Company
Franchiser Obligations
11. The company will supply goods once a day to the
shop free of cost
12. The company will lend its brand name to the front
signage as well as internal signages and will provide the
creatives and P.O.Ps.
13. The company will have relevant promotion of its
brand name and its products through the media
14. The company will impart training to the shop staff
before commencement through its various cake shops.
15. The company will have local promotions on the
opening day, to boost sales and awarness in the area
where the shop is located. (typically 50% sharing basis).
