The first Executive MBA Program debuted in 1943 at the University of Chicago. It came out as a method for senior management to gain an MBA whilst still working for their companies. The traditional MBA (Masters of Business Administration) is a full time 1-2 year course, tailored more for students with less management experience who want a good academic grounding in basic management theories while EMBA programme was developed for executives having experience more than 5 years.

Executive MBA’s primary objective is to maintain competitiveness of the experienced people to fight with new hurdles come in their ways. The advantages Executive MBA offers are:

Customized Knowledge: Executive MBA does not offer core courses as full time MBA and students can make choice for their study according to their interests and can demand a class of heir choice if it is not offered.

Small Classes: Classes are smaller in Executive MBA than that of traditional MBA and hence it provides opportunity to students to know their classmates very well and they can interact with each and every student.

More Qualified Faculty: As traditional MBA program is designed for fresher and Executive MBA is for experienced so Executive MBA students get advantage to be taught by senior management level faculty like CEO, CFO or Senior VPs of Major companies.

Earning while Learning: Executive MBA program allows professionals to continue with their job while learning and get promotion after successful completion of Executive MBA program.

Essentially both the MBA and the EMBA at a top school are very good programmes, but these two carry different characteristics. Try to recognize your goals and match them with, your own qualifications and knowledge and then make your choice to go for an Executive MBA program.
