KISHORE BIYANI - October 14th, 2010

KISHORE BIYANI is the managing director, chief executive officer and chief knowledge officer.

With a strong industry experience, sharp business acumen, and postgraduate degree in marketing management and strong business background, he introduced the concept of mega retail stores in the country through Pantaloons Family Mega stores.

An extremely foresighted entrepreneur, Kishore Biyani identified the retailing mantra and builds up robust retail network a critical success factor in the apparel retailing industry, thus gaining a sharp competitive edge over other retailers.

When asked of his additional skills he mentioned that keeping the eyes and ears open is all that is important to make the business successful. He takes the decisions himself but makes the subordinates feel that they have contributed in the decision making process.

He resolves the conflicts that the organization faces tactfully.
A sports and music enthusiast, his idea of good relaxation is cricket, bowling, table tennis, good music and spending his time with his family.

We would like to conclude our presentation with kishore biyani’s perception of leaders and his advice for future managers .

Kishore Biyani says, “Leaders must have the leadership qualities from birth but can inherit them as well by learning and unlearning- by keeping your eyes and ears open.

One should make mistakes but not repeat them.”
One should not go by the rulebook. Rules can be rewritten but values cannot be changed. Today most of the management students rely on international books.

They drift away from Indian culture. All the management theories will help you only if you understand Indian conditions and culture. Nobody can change Indian conditions and culture. It will take generations and generations to change it.
