PROCESS OF LAUNCHING DNA –

Scanning was the first step in the process to launch DNA. Scanning procedure began on 19th February 2005 and ended on 20th March 2005. Here the Marketing Executives were allocated particular area wherein they had to sketch rough map of entire area covering each and every society, plot the society address, number of households in each society, identify a notable landmark etc.

Further the scanned societies were differentiated into different categories such as A+, A, B+, B, C depending on the income and lifestyle of people living their.


Training was conducted for 10 days that is from 22nd March 2005 to
31stMarch 05. The objective behind conducting training was to make Marketing

Executives aware of Personality Development and improve their Communication skills.

Marketing Executives were taught what things they had to perform in Phase 1, Role plays were undertaken wherein MRE’s would play the role of interviewer and respondents so that the script was learnt and practiced. Training helped to develop proper eye – contact, and to increase their communication skills and boosted their confidence.

On 1st April 2005 kits were issued to MRE’s which contained ID’s, Bags, Uniforms, Writing pads, Notepad, Pens, Deodorant, Stapler etc.



Phase 1 was the next step in the process to launch DNA. Phase 1 procedure began on 2nd April 2005 and ended on 26th April 2005. Here, the Marketing Representatives had to undertake research for an ideal newspaper of mumbaikars. For research MRE’s visited the houses mentioned in their inventory. They gave respondent their introduction letter and introduced themselves as DNA representative.

Further they interviewed respondent by asking them a set of questions. The questionnaire consisted of 8 questions. followed by personal details of respondent.

For keeping and maintaining records in the files for office use.

After filling up the questionnaire MRE’s gave the respondent the contest form, an inland letter wherein the respondent could write suggestions in free time and send to DNA and can receive various prizes, while living them MRE’s gifted respondent a DNA guide consisting of all local telephone numbers and addresses.


After a hectic schedule of Phase 1, Company decided to provide a pleasure trip to its employees.
To motivate employees and for boosting their energy level Diligent Media planned an excursion to Essel World on 28th May 2005. The total expenditure of the excursion was bear by the Company.
Employees were happy that Company thinks for them and thus started working with dedication and proper job involvement.

Again Training was conducted for period of 7 days from 29th May 2005 to
4th June 2005 for Phase 2.
Here the Marketing Representatives were trained about what job they had to perform in Phase 2 which is order booking. Firstly MRE’s had to share the findings of the research with the respondents and than explain various attributes the newspaper will be providing, tell them about the price, discounts and offers it would provide.

Phase 2 began on 5th June 2005 and ended on 6th July 2005. Here Marketing Executives had to do the challenging job of order booking, since for the first time it was seen that a product’s order booking is done that to without seeing the sample. The executives used their convincing skills to make the customers book the order.

When the respondent is willing to book the order, an order form was filled. The form consisted of 4 copies, The Vendor Instruction copy, the Office copy, the Vendor copy and last the Readers copy. Last 2 copies were left at respondent’s place which was collected later by the vendor.
