Position Summary:

Kensington Computer Products Group is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Burnaby, BC to focus on development of products for the mobile computing market.

The successful candidate will work with a team of QA engineers and design engineers to test and develop innovative products using leading edge technologies in electronics, wireless communications, mechatronics and mechanical engineering.

This important role requires a highly motivated, meticulous professional who thrives in a fast paced, high-tech culture to drive QA initiatives from product concept through to worldwide release.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Generate and maintain test specifications for products destined for high-volume production;
Generate test plan and manage test projects from prototyping to production ramp up;
Design and execute tests to verify functions, reliability, compatibility and standards compliance;
Track and resolve product design issues;
Develop, improve and document test methods;
Audit external test specifications and reports to ensure compliance to all product requirements;
Liaise with and manage external resources to fulfill QA responsibilities;
Act as in-house expert in testability, reliability and compatibility;
Maintain and improve test equipment and test facilities;
Research and analyze test methodologies and technologies;
Support other teams within Kensington
Education/ Requirements:
Minimum B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering,
Minimum 5 years industry experience in test engineering, involved in the following areas:
high-speed digital electronics,
RF and analog electronics,
mechatronic or mechanical design,
software-hardware co-verification,
test fixture design/build,
Working knowledge in the following areas:
DFT,
Root cause analysis,
Statistical methods,
Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, data acquisition system and spectrum analyzers,
Proficiency with data acquisition and control platforms such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI and MATLAB,
PCB rework - small SMT components including 0201, BGA and small 0.5mm pitch QFP,
Read electronic schematic, PCB layout and mechanical drawings,
Proficiency with common software packages such as MS Office Suite.

Preferred experience and skills:
Consumer Electronics,
Software and driver testing (for functionality and compatibility),
Environmental and reliability testing and failure mode analysis,
Wireless systems testing, such as Bluetooth, 802.11, UWB, ZigBee,
Regulatory testing including FCC and CE,
Wired protocol testing, such as USB, RS-232, SPI,
Proficiency with CAD software such as PADS, Protel or OrCAD

The Quality Control Technician will perform inspection by attributes or variables on a variety of piece parts, assemblies, raw materials and finished goods to assure conformance to standards, specifications and the specified requirements as documented or in similarity to the ISO 9000 standard. The Quality Control Technician will also operate test equipment to support inspections previoulsy noted and assist in production process development and refinement. We seek enthusiastic individuals such as yourself to join our Day-Timer Team located in East Texas, PA (suburban Allentown).

Responsibilities

* Effective communication skills to professionally interact with all levels of the East Texas Operations organization.
* Develop and implement quality assurance standards, processes, controls, policies and procedures with primary focus on real-time quality checks from manufacturing processes.
* As needed, perform quality inspections on PFG’s (Purchased Finished Goods).
* Develop methods and compile / communicate results for raw material and methods trials and testing.
* Develop inspection, sampling and training processes.
* Evaluate production capabilities using observation and test equipment and recommend improvements; process development and refinement.
* In coming, In process, Final Inspection activities and associated PC data entry.
* Assist Quality Engineer in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
* Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure that new products meet the specifications.
* Support the equipment operators and material handlers to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
* Monitor the tools and gauge calibration system.
* Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings; create audits findings reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
* Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
* Manage suppliers’ performance via incoming inspection and audits.
* Reject and identify non-conforming material or parts, issue corrective actions, ensure timely resolution of supplier and monitor compliance of preventive actions.
* Prepare weekly and monthly Quality reports as requested.
