The following are a few Computer Terminologies we come across:

1) PC Optimization – Improves the performance of the computer.

2) Back up of Data – To secure loss of data.

3) Internet and Networking – DSL: Digital Subscriber Line, Dial Up, Wireless, LAN – Local Area Network, WAN – Wide Area Network.

4) Types of Operating System – Microsoft: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Apple – Macintosh.

5) Security – Anti-virus to protect us from Viruses, Worms, Spyware and Malware.


6) Windows Live – a software provided free by Microsoft to its customers which include a Windows Live Mail, Messenger, Photo Viewer and Editor and a Movie Maker.

7) Apple Products – ITUNES – used to connect an IPOD with the computer. ICLOUD – Used to connect an IPAD, IPOD and other apple devices to a computer.

8) Media Players to watch videos and movies. Ex. Video Lan (VLC), Windows Median Player, GOM Player etc.

9) Product Key – Its a 25 digit alpha numeric used to setup a software for the first time. Without a product key, you would not be able to install a software.

10) SCAM/SPAMS and Phishing Emails – Fraudulent emails sent to customers.
