A shop that's open 24x7 since 1947

Indore: A vehicle going out of order can be a nightmare for anyone. But in Indore there is a repair shop that has remained open 24x7 since 1947.

Located near the Sarwate Bus Stand, the small workshop, is believed to be the oldest repair shop in Indore and can be visited by any customer.
It serves everyone, be it a car owner or a two-wheeler owner or a bicycle owner at nominal charges. There are no extra charges for providing late night service.

This workshop’s popularity can be gauged by the fact it has no door or nameplate by which to identify or publicise itself.
According to its present owners, their forefathers opened the workshop in 1947 in an area measuring 90 square feet.

"This workshop is open 24 hours a day and we have never closed it no matter how troublesome the situation in the city. Therefore, it does not have any door. There is no need for it. But we do cover it with a plastic sheet as a protection from sun and rains," says owner Mohammed Salim,

Four generations of the same family run the workshop that draws many clients throughout the day.

"The best thing about this workshop is that it never closes and in case of any emergency, we know where to go. It serves its customers with contentment and we have never any complaints about the work done on vehicles here," said Mukesh Vishwakarma, a rickshaw puller.

The shop has also proved to be a boon for tourists and outsiders.
