Tina elected as US museum trustee

Art connoisseur Tina Ambani has been elected as the trustee of the prestigious Peabody Essex Museum (PEM ) in the United States—one of the oldest museums that holds priceless art collections (approximately 1.3 million art pieces) from Asia. It is spread over 24 buildings.

Richard Carlson, chairman of the PEM says, “Tina Ambani’s passionate commitment to Indian art makes her an ideal person to serve as PEM’s first international trustee.”

Dan Monroe, director and Ceo added, “Tina’s election recognises a 200-year relationship with India and reinforces a commitment between her and PEM to advance appreciation of Indian art.”

Tina says in the same vein, “There is a tremendous synergy between PEM and Harmony Art Foundation based on our belief of Indian art and our commitment to bring it to the global stage. It’s time that the art world looks beyond market trends to establish interest in the power of Indian art.”

Usha Bhatia from the Harmony Art Foundation says, “PEM had visited the sculptures’ residency programme of the Harmony Art Foundation, which is held every year at Koparkhairane (Navi Mumbai). Also, some time ago the foundation showcased its collection at an auction organised by Christie’s. The representatives of PEM were there too.” Subsequently, Tina was approached. It’s said that Tina will primarily be promoting Indian art through this trusteeship.
