Driverless car on road by 2018: GM

GM expects to launch driverless cars on road by the year 2018 (and start testing them sometime near 2015). The announcement comes during the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

95% of road accidents are caused by human errors. These driverless cars will hope to reduce that significantly. However taking away the feel of driving from the people isn't a very easy ambition. Although most of the technology to enable this concept is already present (GPS / satellite based mapping, motion sensors, lane-change warning etc). An important roadblock for such cars to really make it on road would certainly be the government regulations, liability laws, safety, etc.

But Driverless travel will feel more boring or in other words people who really njoy fun in driving might loose it soon, might be next generation of people it would be useful. Again judging and taking decisions and reflexive actions of people will be down, Soon people might loose their basic IQ in everything.

yup thats true, its certainly a draw back, but..\

1. by 2018 gaming will be advanced to give enough thrill and people will start to understand that int he real world safety is more important

2. how many Mercedes owners have you seen driving their own car? they prefer a driver... there certainly is a market for such cars...

however i look at this as a technological break through only!
