You are right. Apart from the 3 tier system followed in auditing, there should be an external agency having a check on the entire process

Y should all suffer bcoz of planned manipulation by one IT Company. The step that can be taken is to make the Auditors responsible so that Auditors liability in future wakes them up from their sleep of signing on documents blindly.

Its not that all the IT companies should be checked , having satyam issue as a reason, but in future ie trhe forthcoming days, all the documents should be verified carefully, and cororate governance rules should be more erfect.

well..corporate governance so far was limited to books,articles...but satyam episode has exposed the real practices followed in corporate set up in the country...grave damage has been done to india's reputation ...govt. need to be proactive and go all out on witch hunt before thera are more such disclosures in future...check is must..free business doesnt mean lawlessness and rquires high degree of transparency and control...and govt. should see they not only reap benefits of free market..but also show some accountability...time to put house in order.
